Was he this good at South Carolina? I assume he was on those nat'l title teams. He was almost a total bust hitting wise a couple years ago for the Sox then started to figure it out.

Obviously you don't watch much college baseball

Jackie was awesome to heckle from the party deck. He talked to us the whole weekend...fed him a couple of cheeseburgers in between innings and was a good sport. Signed one of the "K" signs that he earned from striking out a couple of times (which my nephew has in his room)...UK took that series that weekend.

I can't recall the right fielder on that team. He was awesome...but had several K's put up on the deck as well...I think there was a long delay for the Saturday game...they talked to us during the 20 minute delay. They were by far the coolest outfielders in the SEC...the biggest prick by far was VanDekker of Florida...I guess he got pissed when I brought up his arrest that he got for stealing a chicks purse at a bar in Gainsviille.

Yea JBJ was good for a spectacular catch every couple of games and a solid hitter. His glove was more impressive.

I'd hate to say it but the SC fans in here aren't giving him enough credit. He was a great hitter but he was also a stellar defender, which is why I think the Sox wanted him in the first place. He is one of those types that makes a hard play look easy as he just glided under a ball for an out that looked like an obvious gaper coming of the bat.
And by the way, he was the 2010 CWS Most Outstanding Player and even had a hit streak late in the year that was only broken in the in the championship series vs UCLA.

I love him. He was my fantasy sleeper and I drafted him in all my leagues. Great player for USC and now for Boston

He was ridiculous at Carolina. One of those guys that when the game is on the line, you hope he's coming up. On top of all that he is the type of person, after having spoken to him a few times, that you are glad is representing your university.
