Ok I'm just the messenger and this is not my idea or findings of any research found on my part. Now with that said the guys on Gamecock central are saying if the regional game is rained out that the SR must start on Friday and the NCAA powers that be select the regional winner by default. I find that extremely hard to believe but it's gaining legs. Can anyone confirm what the championship rule book states?

Can't play more than 2 games in a day, so LSU could go to Tuesday if needed vs the Rice/SLU winner.

Odd... I doubt that. They will start on Friday but I think they get that Regional game in.

There is absolutely no way that is true.

no way that happens.

EVERYONE who wasn't "chosen" would be bitching up a storm and they'd be right to.

That is false. The rule is the game must be played. If they can't play tonight, they play tomorrow, (and it's likely that the weather will clear up tomorrow.) If for some reason they couldn't play tomorrow, they would play Wednesday.

There is no rule I have ever seen that the Selection Committee can pick a Regional Winner.

Cock in your ear I want to jump in there and say it's false also but I just don't know. Do yo

Here is a link to the 2015-2016 Rules Chnages they made last year, and the "rule' you're talking about isn't one of them...and I've never seen or heard about the committee's ability to do that before...so I think this is false.

That's great info on suspensions, baserunning rules and when to use 7 innings but not a thing about rain outs or dates

I don't see how they could "determine" the winner and select who they think should go.

Saw this quote on Twitter and I think that's what jumpstarted this. Here's the link if anyone has nothing to do and wants to read all this. Quote is on top of page 7.

Exactly, those are the newest rules to NCAA Baseball, and the rule in the OP isn't mentioned. Nobody has ever heard of the Selection Committee having the authority in the past to pick a Regional Winner, so that would "appear" to be a new rule...however, it isn't listed in the new rules they released (on the pdf in the link.)

All games must be finished by Tuesday. If not a committee picks the winner. That is how it's done.

Well I'll be...it is there, but I think that's for some more catastrophic reasons than a weather delay for 1 or 2 days. That's probably if there was a hurricane...and neither team wanted to play on another field 100 miles away, or something like that. This Regional will finish out, even if they have to play on Wednesday.

Okie St will pay the bills to keep the team in town until this game can be played.

If the game can't be played they go inside and settle it with a game of wiffle ball.
