I was curious to see what the comparison in revenue would be for a SEC team from the SEC Network and Texas from the Longhorn Network. According to this Texas A&M blog, don't worry its not subjective , the horns ended up making nearly $9.5 million in '11-'12, and with that being divided between the school and the athletic department, UT athletics received $4.7 million. These are stats for its first year, but even moving forward it is expected to rake in $10-$14 million annually.

Now looking at the SEC Network. Each team is expected to get around $28.5 million annually and many of their major sports games covered.

I've never been fond of UT and its great to see the consequences of the Longhorn Network. It has played a part in Texas's and the Big 12's landslide from top of the college athletics world to second, maybe even third, best conference and college football team in their state. The Longhorns are behind A&M in recruiting Texas and picking up leftovers in Louisiana, a position that A&M was in not that long ago. Now their network is even second best. Congrats to our Aggie brethren. Looks like you guys ultimately came out on top.

Are you sure that $28 million per team is JUST the SEC network deal? SEC teams didn't make that much with their old deal...

Pretty sure the $28 mill is the whole package combined together.(ESPN,CBS)_

Yes, just tier 2 and 3. CBS is tier 1 and that's currently getting renegotiated.

I got that information from a Kentucky blog. In regards to what it meant for each individual team they stated that it meant
quote:

Money. Lots and lots of money. The network has an estimated value of $400 million per year in television revenue, which is around $28.5 million per team.

I love the fact that TU's greed to have it's own network and flex it's muscle over the rest of the conference was the impetus for the big12's demise. It's also had the sweet caveat of allowing us to completely knock OU out of the picture in recruiting Texas players... TU and the rest of that dying conference are at a permanent disadvantage to the Aggies and with the SEC network and our new stadium, which will be ready to go in just 2 yrs, their downfall will pick up speed.

I wish I could have been in the room when A&M snubbed it's nose at TU and decided not to join the PAC12, I bet TU was flabbergasted at how little we needed them and as it turns out they really need us more.

They actually only got $3.98 million. You're looking at the projected revenue instead of the actual revenue for the first year.

That 28M just the SEC network licensing rights per year, it doesn't include advertising revenue which could almost double that number.

The CBS deal is about to blow y'all away!

As an LSU fan, I've done my fair share of poking fun at the Aggies, but all realistic SEC fans know what y'all joining the conference meant; increased revenue and respect. It was a great, progressive move by Slive that allowed for the SEC to rise further to the top of college athletics. This is a great day for SEC sports and it's also a great day to laugh at the Longhorns

Just stopping by to point out that this is the OP before someone drops a "shut up about Texas" comment.

The final estimations for each SEC program are in the $34 million per year range, are they not?

The burnt orange tears are well deserved. Institutionalize arrogance is one of the most important lessons we should learn from history.

"We're Texas" is the modern equivalent to "not even God can sink her."

'tis a day of celebration and laughing at Bevo.

I wish my fellow LSU fans would learn this. It's amazing how they honestly believe any coach in the nation would jump at the chance to coach at LSU if Miles left.
