Who other than Austin Allen did?
Danny Etling actually had a decent game for an LSU qb. 220 yards. Moving the ball wasnt the issue. Holding onto it was a different story

Yeah I hope Jalen can become an elite passer. I'm just ready for some football.

I would be happy if he becomes an average passer this year. With elite talent around him then an average arm will put up close to elite numbers plus anything on the ground is icing on the cake.

Can we get a Qbr stat for passes that travel more than 5 yards in the air downfield?

I would love to see stats like those. People always post Hurts numbers on passes 10+ yards downfield, but ive never seen anyone else's to compare his to. Would be nice for some context.

But I'd take Steven Johnson's arm and his legs, over Eason's arm alone every time.

Surely you don't believe this.

I absolutely do. I believe the most effective offenses use a pass run feature at qb.

Doing this mean that double coverage is problematic at best.

The throws the spread qb's get are just plain easier because they are also run threats.

With Eason, a defense plays 11 on 10 downfield. Against Johnson a defense plays 11 on 11. Basically you want a tall guy if you use a dropback pro set scheme, with an arm that can make all the throws, and who can go through all those reads and checkdowns with a positronic brain.

And that is just plain harder to get than Lamar Jackson kind of athletes. And it really doesn't work as well either.

I think the question you guys (Georgia) needs to ask yourself, is whether an offense that tries to emulate Stanford and Michigan harder to stop than one like Louisville or Clemson. Or Ohio State, or the Baylor of a few years ago.

If you guys go on a roll and win a couple of East titles in a row, it will be because of the talent you have available, not the fact you are optimally using all that talent.

Not going to happen, but it would have been very interesting if Urban Meyer had gone to Georgia. Or Herman, or any of the other hot playcallers.

He only broke 220 twice. He failed to reach 100 in 1 game. Failed to reach 160 in 4 games.

Past performance is in no way indicative of future performance. read the prospectus.

Thought of something else I wanted to say.

Put Eason on Kentucky's team last year, instead of Johnson.

You think Kentucky's season goes as good? I know, I know, Eason was a freshman.

But to make Eason work, you need a lot more athletes around him winning individual battles than Johnson does.

But the thing is, Johnson works even better if he has the kind of talent Georgia has surrounding him.

The reverse is not true of Eason, or Drew Lock or anyone like that.

But he broke 215 five times. Context.

"He" failed to reach 160 in only 3 games, and in one of those LSU rushed for 390 yards and 5 touchdowns. Again, context.

ETA: Etling had two really bad games, but the rest of the season he was serviceable. I honestly don't expect that to change much.
