Both Arkansas and Tennessee hired new coaches in 2013. Since those hires, the two schools are getting wildly different results for their money. Let's take a look at this.

While out of conference victories can be inspiring, we all know that SEC wins are the metric by which teams in this conference live and die. So what are Arky and Tennessee achieving in their respective quests to earn a berth in Atlanta?

As of date, Arkansas has paid Bert about $9.6 million for two conference wins. This is roughly $4.8 million per win. (We all know Arky would have paid $100 million for 17-0 in 2014, but that is another story).

Tennessee, on the other hand, has paid Butch about $8.88 million for five conference wins. This is only $1.78 million dollars per win.

With all of the Vols offing themselves in the wake of eleven straight losses to UF, they should be congratulated for their relative fiscal responsibility as a bottom dweller. Overall, things could be worse. They could be burning even larger piles of money for fewer wins and defeats at the hands of marquee opponents like Toledo.

Chin up, Vols.

I think Arky is getting the best return on their investment. Arky is in the SEC West and that accounts for Bielema's two wins. If Arky was in the SEC East they would be a STRONG contender to win it.

Tennessee actually feels like they are an elite program (clearly are not). Arkansas knows they are an average program.

That being said with the price Bert is paid Arkansas has a lower return on investment especially with that buy out

Your restaurant by my house went out of business. I would say that's a bad ROI as well

Except that Bielema's winless against the East

The hogs last 5 games against the East (losses to South Carolina, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri)

I am sticking with my opinion. I'd take Arky under Bielema against those teams any day rather than versus a typical team from LSU, Bama, A&M or Auburn.
