Gamecocks - heading to Columbia next week for work. Where should I eat? Is Pawley's the good burger place and is it worth going to?

Sure. They make an alright burger.
Try Southern Belly BBQ next door to Pawley's for a good bbq sandwich. Their original location is near the football stadium, but I believe they've recently opened a 2nd location next door to Pawley's.
Another good restaurant that I enjoy down in that area is Blue Cactus Cafe
Keep in mind, these are all on the cheaper side in terms of price, so don't expect anything fancy.

What price points are you looking for? What kind of food are you into? And yes Pawley's has a great burger.

That's a shame because it's so much better.

price range and what you're looking for in a restaurant?
Drinks, business dinners, local favorites?

When I was there for the 2011 Auburn vs SCAR game I went to some brewery near downtown that served a beer braised duck quarter with grits that was amazing.

Rockaway's on Rosewood Dr. has the best pimento cheeseburger you'll find.
Pawley's is a good choice too though.

Used to go here as a kid when I lived in Cola. Dad would play darts and I would sit at the bar eating the turtleheads. Good times.

I had some good food at a bbq shack a mile from the stadium. Odd place, you can park in the front yard

When we went for the jack-up-your-hopes-unreasonably game in 2014 we really enjoyed Blue Marlin. As you'd expect, excellent fish/seafood.

I like Al's Upstairs in West Columbia for seafood. Its across the river not far from the stadium. You might just want to go to the Vista and walk around. Tons of bars and restaurants to walk to.

Thread hijack, but I'm headed to Lexington this weekend. Anyone know of some good places there to eat? And a good drink spot too.

Bourbon; Oak Table; Terra; Motor Supply are the higher end places in or near the Vista. Can't go wrong with any of those. Bourbon has the best atmosphere.
Many other options if you want casual mid-range. The Vista area has many options.

Everyone has made some good suggestions. I like Rockaways, but the service is flat out terrible there. Good food, but you'll have to wait. Another place you may wanna try is Publico. It's a taco/burger bar on Greene Street in Five Points. Great beer selection.
