Richt wasn't a bad coach but he could never finish the job and hadn't won the league in 10 years. He needed a fresh start and so did Georgia.

What's the ceiling at Georgia though? They will never be a dynasty. I think you should have a coach that has the potential of a top 10-15 team every year than find lightning in a bottle
Many many schools make that mistake.

Sorry but no he's not. He's not getting a power 5 job anywhere else. fricking Purdue turned him down.

Les has a history of publicly declaring interest in a job he has no intention of taking. Used to be for leverage in contract negotiations, but now it's to make sure everyone knows damn well he wants to coach again.
This may land him a lower tier job.
Les has a good agent.
ETA: And honestly, if Les thinks he can win games in the next two years with the talent Ole Miss has now, it wouldn't be a bad job at all. No expectations. Pad some stats, parlay Ole Miss's misfortune into another P5 job down the road.
From Ole Miss's perspective, they need a straight laced guy that can win.
If they don't hire a damn good coach right now, they will definitely go the SMU route.
Look at SMU and Penn State. Penn State hit a home run after their ordeal and their program bounced right back.

Les would fail, but so will anyone who takes that job right now. He probably doesn't care. And let's be honest, Les isn't the smartest guy on the planet and nobody is knocking down his door. For 4 mill a year he may just not care that his ceiling will be 5-7 wins and then a firing in a few years. I could live with that deal. ??

Are you suggesting he could get the same talent to go to ole miss that he got at LSU?

I wish they would hire him to shut all the people up who thought he was a great coach

-He already inherits a better QB than he ever had at Lsu.
-low expectations, he can work at his own pace and just enjoy the process. some people dont like retirement, but he wont be in a high pressure scenario either way.
- can finally enjoy the Christmas holidays as a coach.

Les takes the job and runs a wide open spread offense and beats LSU in the process
Lane Kiffin would be the perfect OC to make this happen

I'd love having Miles as HC, but I don't think it's going to happen. If he really wants to get back into coaching, there will be better opportunities.

He had JaMarcus and Flynn; there's nothing to suggest that Patterson will even be better than Jefferson/Harris/Jennings/Lee

I think he'll reunite with Chavis in College Station before he would take the OM job.
IMO, that would be a home run hire for y'all. Les + Chavis and A&M's resources would turn y'all into a serious contender in 2-3 years max.
I just pray that Les doesn't take an SECW JOB.

I wouldn't say no to that pairing.

Know how I know you didnt see Patterson play last year?

Remember when Harris and Jennings, hell even Jefferson, looked great in limited action off the bench?

Now imagine that in College Station with Chavis and all their resources...
