This might explain all the Taylor Swift music on ESPN this weekend.

quote:

A source tells ET that the 27-year-old singer will be performing at the College Football National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, which is set to take place on Jan. 8, 2018.

“She will headline a concert in Centennial Olympic Park during halftime of the game," the source says. "It will be a free concert. ESPN has her booked for the event and has a massive deal to release new music from [her upcoming album] Reputation through its college football coverage this season."

ESPN denies the reports fwiw. They say they only played her music this weekend and nothing is finalized for T Swift.

So that's why they were all using Look What You Made Me Do for everything during the games.

Who gives a crap if she is not invested in CFB?

Need to have performers who actually follow the sport so they look less dumb in the interviews.

Whoever decided to sign a contract with her as the voice of college football does not know their audience.

Ouch. She shoots for the Super Bowl, and lands in CFB. Harsh.

I'm sure the young lady will put on a good show ... but meh. Not a fan of hers. Little brat syndrome.

They know football fans will watch the game regardless. They want to get her to try to get non-football fans to tune in.

At least Katy Perry was funny when she did College Gameday

they need some folks with a personality before getting some popular white bread entertainer

She can't do the Super Bowl Halftime Show even if she wanted to. The video in the linked article says the Super Bowl Halftime Show is sponsored by Pepsi. She's sponsored by Coca-Cola. So that's a no-go.

What about the marching band performances and other traditional halftime programming? It seems like they're trying to turn the CFNC into the Super Bowl. If this is the case I wonder if you'll have a lot of people who come for the spectacle versus actual fans of the teams. I might be over thinking this, but don't like the idea.

I'm assuming the bands will still march inside the stadium. The Taylor Swift concert, if this report has any truth to it, will take place in Olympic Centennial Park.
