Think you can stop/limit Dalvin Cook? Serious question.

I think our run D should be pretty solid, but our secondary is quite young and unproven. We will be able to answer this question much better 8 days from now.

Cook is so electric on the edges that it's really going to depend on whether or not our LB's play smart and keep up.

I just don't see him wearing us out inside. We have some big bodies, and plenty of speed at DE.

Limit him how? From breaking the law? Doubtful.

He will get his 100 yards. Just will. But I expect 8 in the box to make the QB best us. Dont think he (whoever it is) will.

It was a top 25 unit last year and played well against Henry and Fournette. We should be as good or better in the front seven but the two graduated safeties, Elston and Hilton, were excellent in run support. That position is a bit of an unknown and will need to be decent against the teams we play early. Wommack has schemed that type of offense well in the past.
I think cook gets his yards, I just hope we make him grind for them and don't give up any long td runs. We haven't given up a whole lot of explosive run plays in recent years but we are a bend but don't break unit.

Yeah hopefully your OLBs/ DEs can contain that outside edge force him to the help on the inside.

Tony Conner staying healthy and playing up to his potential will help our LB's exponentially. He is excellent at run support. Our D was as good as any in the nation last year before he got hurt, and he was probably the main reason why.

IMO they hold Cook to under 400 yards rushing.

Any team with above avg OL and average RB will be able to line up and run it up the middle every single play. Same as every year vs OM. Idk why every team doesn't do this. Bama and LSU especially. You'd never lose. Sure, sometimes you'll have to punt. That's fine because OM cannot drive the field consistently. They rely on turnovers, a short field and then a quick score. They're good at that. It's they're game. Line up, punch them in the mouth. They're very soft as usual. They will wear down, get frustrated and give every game away. Physically soft and mentally soft. Its characteristic picked up from their coaching staff. Starting with the head coach. It's even characteristic of the administration and fan base. Very weak minded, soft all the way around.

Is Fadol Brown a big loss for run D? Thought I read he may be out a while.

Conner being healthy is huge.

If Tony Conner is 100% our run defense will be better than last year. Dude is an absolute force in the run defense.

Are you saying that the run D hasn't been good in 27 years?

Then why hasn't Mullen figured this out yet?

Losing your starting strong side defensive end is a big loss. Looks like we might move the uber talented Breeland Speaks out there though so it should soften the blow. Hurts depth a little.
