Reason UF has looked so dominant?

I didn't want to put this on the SEC board and be falsely accused of flaming.
IMO UF is a very good team, but the only reason they look as dominant as they do is because they play in a very weak conference. Basically Georgia is the only good team they played, and that game was not as one sided as it appeared.
Also Alabama would not be undefeated playing in any other bcs conference with the possible exception of the Big East.
Right now the 9th place team in the ACC is taking the 6th place SEC team to the woodshed. It is not even close.

Florida has looked so dominant the same way OU has: They get up by so much so quick teams have to abandon their game plan. I think that's more about why they've looked good.

so what happens if uga (sec three) goes on and routs GT (acc two)
just curious

Don't know if I'd go that far.

kind of like usc playing in their weak conference huh

That is of course a huge reason. They are good at exposing other teams glaring weaknesses.

I understand what your saying, and the SEC is having a down year, but the ACC is not a better conference than the SEC.

What conference is "strong" this year besides the Big12?

that proves it then, the SEC blows.
Clemson > USC, I don't give a flying frick where Clemson is in the standings right now, they started the season as ACC favorites and in the top 10 for a reason, they have lots of talent.
No doubt the SEC is down quite a bit from the last 2 years,

i can agree that the uga game wasnt as bad as it looked. first half was competitive in uga-uf. but still, they are a great team, and the conference is solid. also your sec-acc is shite. uga is beating the potential acc champ right now and we wont be playing in the sec championship. does that skew your findings at all?

The ACC is overall better than the SEC, but the SEC is better at the top. Florida, Alabama, and Georgia are all better than any ACC team, but 8 of the next 9 places would go to ACC teams.
If you go by mean average, then the ACC is probably the top conference.

I don't understand why anyone likes the weighted average with the middling teams getting more weight? That seems retarded to me.

They score a lot more points than the opponent? The SEC isn't as strong as usual...but it doesn't mean Florida can't be far and away the best team in college football.
I'm NOT saying they are...but I've always believed the best team in college football can come from a weak conference. I would think USC would strongly agree with that statement.

I like a weighted average with the top teams carrying a little more weight.
The ACC would be the toughest conference for any team to go undefeated in. No monster tests, but a tough team weak in and weak out. No Miss St.'s or Kentucky's, or Washington's, or Indiana's etc..

I agree 100% with your statement. The best team in the worst conference can still be the best team in the country. I understand that.
I did start out saying that I think UF is a very good team, they may possibly be the best team in the nation. I am saying that it remains to be seen based on the level of competition they have played.

i dont put much stock into this bc you still probably think that oregon state beats ole miss 7 out of ten times
Posted on 11/29/08 at 12:37 pm to Ron Mexico
I don't think I ever quantified it, I just said that Oregon St is the better team.

The real reason why UF looks dominant is because when the game is over in the 3rd quarter, they don't step off the gas. They are also the best team in the conference in TO margin. I want to see what happens when their opponent doesn't make a bunch of mistakes. Hopefully FSU or Bama can make this happen.
