Do you guys think it's to try and win the SEC or envious of attention Ole Miss got for doing it?

Probably a bit of both.
But losing to Ole Miss, and then winning the conference, seems to have become a tradition. Bama just doesn't put their post-loss inspirational speeches on plaques.

You know we don't care to win at all we just get up everyday and try to do Ole Miss things.
Of course we want to win because then we get a shot to make it to Atlanta. That is a dumb question and I award you no points and may god have mercy on all of our souls.

We want to beat Bama just like everyone else we play. We couldn't give a frick about Ole Miss beating them.
