Awwww! An upset Florida fan. It's hilarious. At least you have "some" faith in your team. May be too much though.

Coach Mac has won the east every year he has been at UF .

Not so much won as backed into. But hell he's far from the only one. It seems the best way to win the East anymore is to back into it.

If Grier never took roids, we really don't know how good UF would've been the last 2 years.

I think I predicted 8-4 in 2015, and 9-3 last year.

I strongly believe UF will go 11-1.

UF is returning arguably it's most on offense since the 07/08 year after Tebow won the Heisman.

So one play nullifies the designation?

You are easily the best Florida fan on this board so this surprises me.

After further review, yes it does. After hours of deliberation. Austin Appleby completing a 98 yd td pass to a true freshmen does indeed nullify that designation.

So then what does that say about your beloved Butch when he hasn't "backed into" an SEC East title?

He backed into a life championship with a 5 star heart. So, he's got that going for him. Which is nice.

I try make predictions objectively. If I thought UF would be terrible next year, I'd show that in my prediction.

But I look at the schedule and the only team that is unquestionably more talented than UF is FSU.

I hesitate to make statements about UGA because the talent is there, but I do not trust that coaching staff.

I think the talent coming back for UF is being highly underrated, especially defensively. The defense will slightly take a step back, but this huge drop off that many are projecting is not accurate at all imo.

Tennessee fans realize how bad Butch is.

He is really fricking bad.

Then why didn't you want him fired after last season?

I'm not nearly as optimistic as you but it's funny how everyone thinks we never had a great defense before Muschamp.

You did, but those defenses were loaded with elite, highly recruited talent.

You have to admit that the talent and depth of talent is lower now than it has been in a long time. That might not matter, who knows, but it's definitely a difference from the prior.......decade?

I'm not even sure where this is coming from. I haven't heard anyone say that UF has historically had a bad defense, simply that the incoming talent is not rated as highly as the talent leaving... at some point that's highly likely to have an impact... even with the best coaching unless Mac and Co are better at evaluation than all of the recruiting services OR they're just that much better coaches than anyone in the SEC East, that talent drop is going to have an impact. I don't think anyone is anticipating they become a bottom 25% team defensively, but with the lack of offensive improvement under Mac, you can't exactly afford to start dropping down the ranks on the defensive side of the ball.

This year should tell everyone a lot about Mac, and should start to provide some indication on whether Kirby will get UGA moving in the right direction. Not necessarily from the outcome of that specific matchup, but if Mac has an offense that looks formidable and the defense doesn't suffer any significant setback from the draft losses, you have to feel pretty good. If he doesn't have a QB that can make it fire and/or the defense takes a step back, then you have to at least be concerned about the upcoming recruiting cycle, because even if you believe he's the right coach, he isn't necessarily getting the right athletes.

Kirby in kind of a similar but reversed situation... Last year's on field results didn't really impact recruiting at all, but in year 2, he's got to show improvement... it's a much harder sell going into the 2018 class with a lot of guys in state already committed elsewhere and then trying to pitch a program that seems to have a talent advantage in year 2 at least over most programs in the east but isn't performing on the field. If 2017 is a struggle then the 2018 recruiting cycle will likely be a tough one so you've got your hopes pinned on a good run in 18 to shore up what should be an excellent haul in 2019...

Lots of moving parts and spring practice isn't really going to settle much at least for UGA... as most of the OL additions aren't coming until summer.
