That defense collapsed multiple games and almost collapsed more.
You really can't blame the defense in the Arkansas game. It was mainly on Butch or the OC. Dobbs also should have had a better game.

I don't count the Arkansas game. I don't think any Tennessee fan does. It was just an off game. Players didn't show up and flat out got outplayed. We never saw that team before or after that game.

I would argue some did but the coaching staff didn't allow them to flourish.

9 wins is the floor.
Butch can recruit.

8 wins. 9 if they get lucky in bowl games.
Very overrated

This is a prime example of the ignorance on this board. If we won 8 games, we'd go to a mid-tier bowl. Jones is 2-0 in those, with a margin of victory of 90-34. Shut your cocksucker and worry about your own team.

15-0
or
14-1 or 13-1 with a playoff loss
or
14-1 or 13-1 with a playoff loss

9-3, despite a schedule softer than Dobbs frontal lobe.

With Butchs coaching, you could realistically lose all 4 of those games, so there is no reason 8 wins isn't as likely as 10.

My realistic expectation from Tennessee this year is double digit wins (including bowl). I -would- say win the SEC East, but if we lose one to Florida or Georgia, that will become much more difficult to accomplish given their schedules. However, achieving double digit wins is entirely dependent on a few things- Do our key players avoid injury? How does the team adjust to Shoop's aggressive defense? Has Butch learned his lesson, to keep his foot on the gas for all four quarters? If everything unfolds as we hope, 11-1 or even 12-0 is definitely within the realm of possibility. If not, we could be looking at another mediocre year. The absolute bottom would be 7-5. I am admittedly a sunshine pumper, and I believe we'll go 11-1 during the regular season with our sole loss to Texas A&M... however, realistically, we'll probably go 10-2, splitting the four game gauntlet and winning the rest.

Tenner will win 8 games or so +/- 1. They consistently underachieve compared to preseason expectations. Until they break that trend the safe bet is to expect Tenner to fail to meet expectations until they actually start exceeding them

We have consistently met or exceeded expectations every single year CBJ has been coach. This is documented.

Lol what an uninformed opinion.

I see Butch and Bert as similar type coaches in that games that are close result in losses @80% of the time in their tenures in the SEC.
I see Bert as a much better overall coach and developer of players and Butch as a better recruiter. I also see Bert fighting like hell in the much more powerful West and Butch getting the much weaker east. Hell is Butch the senior HC in the east?
Anyway, Butch needs to go 10-2 with that schedule and talent and win the east or he should be on the hot seat. Those four straight games will probably decide it, but I wouldn't discount a few others causing problems. VA Tech is the first one with a very bright new coach and the same defense.

We won't lose to UF and I've already taken a ban bet with one of you figs if we do lose. No way you beat us in Knoxville this year and yes I don't give a frick that you've beaten us 11 straight times. We are better, we are at home, and we will win.

Anything less than 11-1 is a failure
Posted on 8/24/16 at 3:19 pm to djsdawg
We could go 10-2 and as long the losses aren't both UA and UF and we still get to go to the SECC its not a failure
too many variables to say x-x is a failure at this point
