Back in the day, prior to SEC expansion, Bama played Vanderbilt every year because (we were told) it was a "traditional rivalry".
Where does the Bama-Vandy traditional rivalry fall in this list?

Ridiculous, that rivalry is about as competitive as the UT Vandy rivalry.
...oh, wait
VOLS could lose to Vanderbilt every season for the next 40 years and would still lead the all time series.
Also, VOLS have more wins against Alabama than any program in the country. I would not expect an LSU user to be aware of that statistic tho

1. Iron Bowl
2. Coctail Party
3. DSOR
4. AL/LSU
5. Egg Bowl
6. TN/FL
7. TSIO
8. TN/Vandy
The way I see it right now.

What is the criteria for the rankings? National significance, hatred, tradition, uniqueness, outside storylines, tv ratings ....?
Although not a rivalry, I would submit to you that Fla v LSU should be near the top for 2017. It will be at the top most categories. National significance and tradition may be lacking compared to some, but it is a 10 out of 10 for all the other superlatives.

This is what I'd like to know as well. You can develop completely different rankings for each of these. For example, hatred-wise, Egg Bowl is top 3. Significance-wise, it'll be just inside the top 10 most years.

I think most on here would say fan hatred and conference implications.
You could make a separate list of rivalries that are are nationally relevant.
1. Iron Bowl
2. Cocktail Party
3. Bama/LSU
4. DSOR
I want to give honorable mentions to Kentucky/Louisville and Arkansas/LSU, both are very big games regionally.

TSIO is a historically good rivalry but lately it isn't that interesting. I'd put it:
Iron bowl
DSOR
Bama-LSU
WLOCP
Tenn-UF
TSIO
Egg bowl
Iron bowl
DSOR
Bama-LSU
WLOCP
Tenn-UF
TSIO
Egg bowl

OK then:
Iron Bowl
Cocktail Party
Everyone else.
Those are the top 2 picks in the West and the East so there is your conference significance and they hate each other as much as any on here.
The problem with LSU-Bama is that Bama doesn't seem to hate LSU.

Because to be a rivalry, the other team has to win every now and again. That's not an insult to LSU, I'm just saying.

The usc uga rivalry only lasted as long as spur was there, it was more appropriately an extension of the uga uf rivalry and had very little to do with South Carolina

No not really. If the side that wins all the time considers it a rivalry then it still is. Case in point Fla vs UT. Eleven in a row, but those clowns are always such jackasses we still considered it a rivalry. Same with Bama vs UT. They beat them all the time, but UT fans are obnoxious enough that Bama still calls it a rivalry.
Not picking on UT, just an example.

As an impartial observer, I don't like that the cocktail party is played in Jacksonville every year. I've never liked neutral site games (hate that LSU seems to do one every year) and think it would be much cooler to have it on each school's campus.
This is not just another neutral site game. If you ever get a chance to go to the Cocktail Party, you'll change your mind about this.

Vandy has a better record vs the Vols since 2005 than the Vols have vs Bama.
From 1950-1970 Mississippi had the best win% of all div IA, that doesn't make the Egg Bowl any more meaningful.

Since 2000:
UT vs Bama, 5-12
Vandy vs UT, 4-13
Congrats, I guess

Bama's recent dominance over UT was taken into consideration. That's why the rivalry has dropped from #2 or arguably even #1 to #3.
Recent history has elevated LSU-Bama as well, it peaked into the top 3 around 2011, now being settled at 6 is still higher than it was before the last decade or so
