To steal Kyle's introduction from his baseball one.........

This stems back to the thread a couple of weeks ago about coming up with a system to rank the SEC programs in the Big 3 sports. So here it is:

SEC Tournament Title (or other league post-1933) = 2 points
SEC Regular Season Title (or other league post-1933) = 2 points
NCAA Tournament Appearance = 1 point
NCAA Sweet 16 = 3 points
NCAA Elite 8 = 5 points
Final Four = 10 points
National Title = 20 points

1. Kentucky (843 pts)
2. Arkansas (220 pts)
3. Florida (205 pts)
4. LSU (142 pts)
5. Missouri (108 pts)
6. Alabama (75 pts)
7. Tennessee (72 pts)
8. Mississippi St (52 pts)
9. Georgia (45 pts)
9. Texas A&M (45 pts)
11. Vanderbilt (44 pts)
12. Auburn (31 pts)
13. South Carolina (29 pts)
14. Ole Miss (15 pts)

If you go back to times before any of us were born this may be accurate. I think Florida has been number 2 over the last 15-20.

I'm not a basketball fan, is this correct?

It's embarrassing how many LSU fans don't think LSU can be a consistent winner in basketball

Hopefully the administration quits dicking around and brings in Will Wade

I think so, yea. LSU has more accomplishments than any of the other non-title winning programs.

Mainly, LSU has capitalized on way, way more of their Sweet 16 teams. Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee have been to like 40 Sweet 16s combined and never been to a Final 4.

Sort of serious question but we're not counting NIT?

I was told at one point the NIT used to be more prestigious than the NCAAT. Now I don't know the validity of this claim but I do know we have back to back NIT Championships.

Have we not established that VCU elevates coaches and not the other way around?

I actually think its fair, but it should count against you if don't make it.

NIT = 0 points
Not making either tourny = -1 pt

I like what Wade accomplished before he got to VCU, whereas a lot of these VCU guys have only grown from within the program

I'd have no problem with Florida above us but I am insulted that you think all of us are under 20.

Yea, you could definitely get into negative marks for inconsistency (sub 500 seasons/no postseason/etc).

So you're not counting LSU's 1935 title?

Nobody counts titles that occurred pre-NCAA Tournament in basketball.

I don't think two seasons at UChatt is enough to separate Wade from guys like Capel and Grant

He'd be a flavor of the month hire imo
