Ranking the SEC after Week 2

1. Alabama
For some reason all the bama fans in my office are acting like their team lost this past weekend. Didn't watch, so I'm not sure I understand the complaints. However, I know Bama looks to be a long mile ahead of everyone else at this point.
2. Texas A&M
Still not sold on UCLA being that great of a win. We thought the same thing last year when the Aggies beat Arizona State. By seasons end, Arizona State was proven to be horrible, and Texas A&M getting a Top 10 ranking was a textbook example of voters overreacting to a team's early "success." The team does look better this year though. If they can beat Auburn at Auburn, they'll be worthy of the #2 in the SEC ranking, IMO.
3. Ole Miss
This week is huge for Ole Miss. They win, and the dream of making it to Atlanta stays alive. If they lose, the Rebels may never see Atlanta in our lifetimes.
4. Georgia
It was a disappointing week. The O-line looked abysmal. The defense looked very bad a times. Still, Georgia has one of the more impressive wins thus far of any team in the SEC. If they play like they did this past week, even Missouri will beat us.
5. Florida
The Gators got the offense going this week to go along with what everyone knew was a strong defense. Kentucky might just be the worst SEC team to take the field in over a decade though. Next comes North Texas, and with that, the Gators win the championship for the absolutely weakest trio of opponents to start the year. I'm ready to see Florida take on someone decent to see what they've got this year.
6. Auburn
No matter who the opponent was, Auburn's offensive numbers were impressive. This weekend is huge for them.
7. LSU
LSU and Tennessee are very similar teams. Both look very strong on paper, but both have struggled mightily this season. I'll give LSU the slight edge because it does appear Wisconsin has a pretty decent team this season. LSU better get it together quick. These next two weeks could be make or break for Les Miles.
8. Tennessee
THey scored a lot of points, but they only managed 330 total yards of offense.... they gave up 400 yards to Virginia Tech. The Hokies self-destructed with 5 turnovers. I watched most of this game, and I never thought Josh Dobbs looked very impressive. He made a lot of bad throws. I certainly didn't gain a lot of confidence in Tennessee based on what I saw.
9. Arkansas
Arkansas looked better this week. TCU might be good, or they might be very average. The BIG 12 as a whole looks very bad this year. Give Bert credit, he was able to manage his OOC opponents better this year as opposed to seasons past. However, at some point luck runs out. Bert has managed to outscore both opponents this season by a combined one point in regulation. The upcoming A&M game is massive.
10. Mississippi State
Much improvement for the other Bulldogs. They should give LSU a pretty tough game this week.
11. South Carolina
They looked just awful on Saturday, but at least they still have that one SEC win.
12. Vanderbilt
They got the offense going this week and looked much better.
13. Missouri
Their offensive numbers are looking better. Will be very interesting to see how they look in SEC play.
14. Kentucky
As far ahead of the pack Alabama is at the top, Kentucky might be that far behind at the bottom. This team looks lost. I see no way Stoops survives after this year, but I also have no idea what direction this team could possibly turn.

No reason Arkansas should be behind LSU. And I'm not even trolling.

Georgia could have 5 turnovers inside their own 10 and probably still beat Missouri

Georgia isn't in the right place on that list. Not trolling, but they don't look very good.
And don't put so much emphasis on preseason polls. By that, I mean I don't think UNC was ranked correctly.

The Arky grad in our office doesn't think TCU is that good.
I know this is all in fun, but honestly it is was too early to be taking poll rankings seriously. We all know this, so stop flying off the handle.
Yeah, at least put Arky ahead of UGA.

It's Kyle- he tries to make us (hog fans) fly off the handle, instead we just laugh at his stupidity.
We could have beaten the Patriots by 60 and he'd still have us at 9th.

ya know, I have a hard time seeing teams in front of other teams because of who they played.
If ya lose, drop down a bit...
So Arkansas played down to lesser comp, as did Tenner... Tenners was lesser down comp than Arkansas'. Both won, Aub, LSU, Ole Miss didn't.
Arkansas then beat the 13th team in the nation, regardless of point spread, at their home field.
Winning away games, without any advantage, etc should also count for something.
Consider the following.
1. Winning is Good...
2. Winning hugely is better...
3. Winning against stronger competition by huge numbers even better yet...
4. Losing is bad...
5. Losing by huge numbers is worse.
6. Losing by huge numbers to inferior comp is terrible
then consider the home field/away status. Add more for away wins regardless of outcome, don't add or subtract for away losses from the above, take away for home losses.
now, all of this is said and doesn't make a dang bit of difference! JUST WIN BABY!

So let's get this right Arkansas has beaten a top 15 team on the road, a true road game and you have, Georgia, TN, ole miss, A&M, LSU and freaking Auburn ahead of us? Yeah ok
Posted on 9/12/16 at 9:28 am to BHMKyle
Stopped reading at Georgia because you're clearly a homer.

With Etling LSU has surpassed the New England Patriots as the favorites to win Super Bowl this year.

Those are awful. I'd go something like this:
1. Bama
2. Tennessee
3. OM
4. Arkansas
5. A&M
6. UGA
7. LSU
8. UF
9. AU
10. State
11. Vandy
12. USC
13. UK
14. Mizzou

13. UK
14. Mizzou

Huge unknown on the teams below. It really remains to be seen. To me though, UGA and Arky have remarkably similar resumes thus far and need to be ranked closer together...UGA prolly a bit high, Arky probably a bit low. I really don't think you can definitely say a whole lot about the teams below beyond that. Auburn has the highest quality loss..and looked better vs ASU than LSU looked vs JSU...I would rank them over LSU for that reason...if we want to ding Auburn for the loss...I get it. An L is an L. At least UGA and Arky have quality wins...Tennessee doesn't so you have to put Arky over them I think:
Still...you can put the below teams in just about any order at this point and not be that far off:
2. Texas A&M
3. Ole Miss
4. Georgia
5. Florida
6. Auburn
7. LSU
8. Tennessee
9. Arkansas
I would not place a straight up bet on any of these teams vs another on this list.
