The most predictable thing in the SEC right now is not Bama being a title contender every year, it's LSU falling short of whatever expectations their fans set for their players, coaches, and team as a whole. Do you guys ever get tired of this?

* We winning the ship in 2015 cuz of the 4 year cycle!
* LF7 winning the Heisman!
* Cam Cameron is going to wreck shop as an OC. Get ready SEC! We've got a former NFL HC calling plays for us. LSU O is about to explode!
* Saban is leaving for (insert whatever job here)
* We have 18 starters returning and Vegas has us favored in every game! Look out SEC
* Brandon Harris has really matured as a passer since last season! Look out SEC
* Now that 3rd and Chavis is gone we'll hire someone better on D!
* 3rd & Chavis is why we lost those games to Bama. he's gone and we're gonna win now!

and now:
* We are getting Herman or Fisher and then it's on! Look out SEC!

Go suck on a lemon!!! We get the same amount of talent y'all get. We just need a coach to coach them right. We are in the top 5 in recruiting every year retard.

You're right. We'll stop wishing the best for our team and holding high expectations for the season.

What a douche.

The sad answer is no. Lots of folks on the rant think now we're gonna win out and hire Coach O.

Do BAMA players get more tired of getting arrested or busting in the NFL?

Gulf of difference in "wishing for the best" and speaking in terms of absolutes as if what you are saying is a given.

Thanks for a real answer to the question that didn't involve a personal attack or trying to twist the conversation to Bama.

I left off that Etling was going to be the "Etsiah" and save the season and that now fans are debating whether or not you'll win out under O.

LSU is a top 10 program and can/will get back there again soon. That said, your fans would be less disappointed (and angry) if you tempered your expectations with hopeful optimism until the team, players, coaches gave you reason to be as excited and confident as you so often are. But you are an optimistic bunch and I truly do love you guys.

you act like it's been decades since expecting to compete for SEC and NCs was out of the question. So because the past few years have been a let down, the football program should just quit trying and have zero optimism for the future? We should just settle for making shitty bowl games and be content? I'd say if we did that, then that is a sign of a program destined for nothing more than mediocrity. Saban and Miles made it pretty clear that LSU, as a program, can be a top 5-10 program nationally year in and year out. So why, in your opinion, should we settle for anything else?

But to get to your general theme, we're fans, short for fanatics. Fans aren't always realistic in the present and have eternal optimism because they love their team. It wouldn't be any fun being a debbie downer all the time

The problem was there was no reason to think we could win a championship this year. 10-2 was the ceiling because there was a 90% chance we lose to all 3 of OM, Bama, and Ark.

What no one counted on was Miles being such a bad coach that he could make a team full of returning starters get worse.

pretty much this. Had we not had the McNeese game cancelled, we were a 10-3 team last year. The SEC is noticeably weaker this season, yet we are noticeably worse while returning almost our entire starting lineup. There really is no excuse for that.

do you even read the rant. there are people from every fan base that do this. this isn't something unique to LSU fans. This just happens to be an LSU board, so naturally LSU fans outnumber all other fan bases by a lot, so our voices are louder.

Speaking in absolutes is also what you did in your OP, painting all LSU fans with a broad brush as if some of the posters on this site speak for the entirety of the fan base.

Thank you for an honest answer to the question that didn't include personal attacks or avoiding the question by twisting to Bama.

So here's the genesis of my question. I speak from experience. Bama went through a bad stretch and we went through same process as LSU (though to a less boastful extent).
* DuBose won 10 games and the SEC Championship. Shaun Alexander coming back. Look out SEC.
* Fran won 10 games and turned around the nightmare end of DuBose and probation. Look out SEC.
* We hired the guy who just won the Pac12 and has explosive O. Look out SEC.
* Shula got the team to 10 wins and the D is playing great. Look out SEC.

We went through it too and it sucked. It took a HR hire and consistent success before we really believed we'd passed the bad stretch. LSU fans seemingly believe they've turned it around every time there is a single sign it has been turned around (even if that sign isn't what's happening on the field). That's the basis for the question. Are there any of you who are tired of that cycle and are taking a more patient, wait and see approach before making claims of "look out SEC" moving forward. Based on this thread, yes. There are some. You appear to be outnumbered tho.
