Thinking about taking a trip to Columbia South Carolina for my bachelor party. I'm trying to plan the trip on the same weekend LSU plays South Carolina. Any good attractions for a bachelor party weekend?

Go to the Vista and get trashed.

If you're creepily into underage college girls (or guys), go to 5 Points and get trashed.

The Vista

South of Gervais Street. You'll find good restaurants and good bars. You'll probably find lots of LSU fans too.

Columbia gets a bad rap on here, but WHY would you go there for your bachelor party? There are better cities for that within 2 hours in any direction.

5 points still exist. It's where the college kids did and do go, but it has been in a bit of rut lately.

Still not a terrible place to drink, plenty of options, plenty of coeds, more chances to get into places if any of your are under 21 etc.

As a result of some shootings 5 points in the last couple of years, however, the Vista has become a mix of the older crowd and the college kids who have gravitated over to it.

If it's a bachelor party I don't see why you can't go to both. You'd have to drive but it'd take no more than 5 minutes to get from either.

Go to Charleston Thursday-Saturday night...drive in Saturday for the game then back to Charleston.

Trust me...it isn't that Columbia sucks, but Charleston is one of the best cities in America, and has one of the best girl/dude ratios in America. We were there for my brother's bachelor party. You're welcome

I agree with the Aggie.. I'm a Gamecock but I'm also a Charlestonian. I love Columbia but it's a college town first and foremost. Sure, there's more to do there than most other college towns in the SEC but when I think bachelor party I don't think Columbia.. Thursday/Friday in Charleston. Saturday in Columbia. Spend Sunday recovering and being touristy in Charleston.

That said, the Vista is the place to be. New bars, restaurants and hotels are constantly popping up and it'll be very lively that Saturday night. 5 points will be pretty crazy too but depending on the outcome of the game you may wanna stay away from the undergrads... especially on the weekend of your bachelor party.

Yeah. LSU bachelor party meets drunken Gamecock horde. That sounds like trouble.

Everything depends on your age range and what you want out of your bachelor party.

If we have a 6 p.m. or later kickoff for the game, and you want to do a bachelor party on Fri Night, I would recommend heading to Myrtle Beach, they have better clubs (strip clubs) and you can gamble.

Charleston, SC is a great option if you and your crew want to go hit on co-eds. There are a lot of bars around the CofC campus.

Another thing to think about is sometimes it's better to order a dancer through a company like Wild Thangz to perform at your rented house/condo/suite than going to the club...but that all depends on what you're looking for.

If you are going to stay in Columbia:
If you're under 25 yrs old try 5 Points, it's the college age crowd. Lot's of bars and you can search for what kind of bar you want.

If you're over 25 yrs old, go to The Vista. Lot's of bars, older young professional crowd.

Best clubs in Columbia, SC

If you're looking for a strip club:

Platinum Plus has been the best for years, another one not on this link and relatively close to downtown is called Heartbreakers...unless it shutdown

I wouldn't even consider Columbia for a bachelor party. Have it in Charleston and go to the game in Columbia. Columbia doesn't feel anything like a college town, nor does it have a true large bar/restaraunt district worth mentioning.

I get that you live in Lexington, and never miss a chance to shite all over Columbia, but this is patently ridiculous. Columbia has *two* distinctly different bar/restaurant districts worth mentioning. In fact, both have already been mentioned in this very thread.

I feel for you being stuck in a place that you don't like - truly, I do. But even an impartial observer can say that Columbia has a couple of bar districts.

First off, I'm not trashing Columbia, it is what it is. I have only lived in Lexington a little over a year, my first three in the area were in Forest Acres, which is actually nice in areas.

I work at SCDOT, which is essentially surrounded by campus on the east, and the vista on the west. I have also been to five points several times, actually I lived on Blossom Street for a year within walking distance.

Lets get to the facts here. Five Points has roughly 8-12 bars and a few restaurants, with only Jakes, Salty Nut, and Bare None worth mentioning. Saludas, Cellar on Green, and Mr. Friendly's aren't bad either for good food. Other than that, its a couple of stores, a starbucks, and a jimmy johns. This area has the potential to be a lot more, but the crime ghettos near by keep a lot of the development out. In the past year I believe there have been two shootings and a kid beat to death.

The Vista has about 3 or 4 restaurants that aren't chains. Noteworthy restaurants are Colas, Motor Supply, and Gervais and Vine. Pearls, the Oyster Bar, and Flying Saucer are ok to drink at. Other than this you have a bunch of chains, a chipotle, and of course another Jimmy Johns.

I wouldn't call either of these "bar" districts. Downtown Athens, GA and Broadway in Nashville are bar districts.

I describe Columbia by exactly what it is.

One thing I wish they would do, and I've said this since living there, is paint the railroad bridge that crosses Gervais Street near Harden St. They should paint it Garnett with Black letters spelling Carolina between each support line.

You know .... I was gonna stay outta this thread because I felt that the younger guys would adequately answer the OP's question and the others, the one's wanting to mealy mouth tColumbia .... well, frick'em.

But then I see this pile of horseshite of a post and I was like, wuuuut? lulz

Truth is, tColumbia has two large bar/restaurant districts worth mentioning .... so, wtf? How fricking full of crap are you JCdawg?

This is how I know you're just here to peddle shite. The OP will be in town for one of the biggest football weekends of the season and you suggest BAR NONE? I wouldn't pregame in Bar None even if they did have a power hour. There are PLENTY of bars in 5points for a 24 year old looking to rage on his bachelor party weekend (Pavs, PourHouse, Delayneys, Village Idiot to name a few). Saloon is a blast and Moosehead has strong cheap drinks and a mechanical bull which is kick arse. How old are you because you clearly shouldn't be giving advice to a 24 year old... 8-12 bars? Sheesh, I do 8 bars on a GOOD night in 5 points. There's definitely more than 12 bars out there man.

I understand though.. You're a UGA fan (alum?) so you're predisposed to hate everything about Columbia and you think Athens is the greatest place on the planet... which is cool, it's fine. You're free to think whatever, but don't be THAT guy... Don't be that UGA fan that we are all so tired of.

We get it. We understand UGA fans hate Columbia.. it's to the point we automatically assume you do (which is ironic because there are SO MANY OF YOU HERE). But still, being that you're a local (ugh) all you really had to do was just suggest some cool things for OP to do and just kept it moving to another thread..

Instead... you chose to be THAT Georgia fan. Typical.
