Starting hear talk(probably rumors) about Georgia going after Jimbo, and he entertaining talks. I think its zero chance it happens...but talk about pissing on LSU if this is possible.

I've been reading and searching about this search non-stop and have seen absolutely nothing about Jimbo. It will be Kirby or Tom Herman.

if yall don't get herman, i'm gonna laugh my arse off.

people talk about smart being saban's dc for years, but say herman only has 1 year as a hc.

what the frick do people think herman was doing this time last year? he was beating the frick outta smart and saban in the playoffs as oc for osu.

I hope it's Herman. I also hope he can convince Pruitt to stay and continue as DC.

I would be ok with Smart though.

Do. Not. Want. Mullen.

I think Herman and Smart are both good choices. Smart seems the easy choice considering he's an alum, has relationships with tons of Georgia high school coaches, and has been tied to this job forever.

Herman would be great in the long term but our class would most likely fall apart due to a likely staff overhaul. But there are no holes to poke in that dude's resume and would be a great hire.

I'm good with either.

I have heard Jimbos name as well. Hearing he may be tiring of FSU.

It's going to be Smart barring any last minute snafus. Herman would be #2 on the list. Jimbo I don't think is in the picture, but I'd be plenty happy if that's who we ended up with (just leave the broken moral compass in Tallahassee)

I have a feeling that our AD is going all in for kirby. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I guess I can see all the positives that come with it. If we are able to hold onto pruitt (plus any other of the defensive staff) and mclendon/brown, plus bring in cochran, I guess I can't really be too upset.

Although I would have like to see us target a proven HC first (like jimbo). Herman is super intriguing but we'd essentially ahve to start from scratch considering the offense he runs, plus losing probably a lot of this incoming class.

Yep that's the issue with Herman. I think we go with Kirby which I'm totally fine with if we hang on to Pruitt. Herman seems like he's the real deal on offense but I think there are some unknowns about how he would do recruiting, defensive coordinator, etc. Kirby is a logical and good choice.

Agree with this. Smart provides the most continuity while Herman might well have the higher ceiling/most potential. Honestly, I'm sort of hoping it's Herman since I would like to see Georgia attract athletic/duel threat QB's in a more diversified offense with more options on every down.

I get that that's intriguing because it's NEW for us, but it might not necessarily work. I mean, bama runs the same offense we do essentially and they haven't hurt for wins. We ran pro style offsenses with mason, murray, stafford, shock, and greene at QB and our offenses were pretty good.

With Herman, we could turn into meyer-era UF or we could turn into 2014-2015 auburn. Who knows. At least with kirby a lot of the unknowns are diminished.

I agree.

Could you imagine Deshaun Watson behind center with a healthy Nick Chubb in the backfield? Oh. My. Lort.

Not to mention that Kirby is a defensive-minded coach. There's nothing that says we can't bring in a dual-threat minded OC to implement that edge into the offense. Could always run something like Carolina used to do with Shaw, giving the QB an option to bail out and run but focusing primarily on a traditional rushing and passing offense.

If Kirby is the hire then Pruitt fills Bamas DC void so I think you can flush the Kirby/Pruitt combo. Best you could hope for with Kirby is a Muschamp hire and cross your fingers on offense.

Smart screams Muschamp 2.0 to me.

I just don't trust DC's who have no experience as a HC. If they don't get the OC just right, it could go south quickly. Offense is so important these days and to have the head guy having absolutely no offensive background doesn't seem prudent.

Unless he has an OCD personality and really has a ton of leadership qualities, which I don't really get from Smart. Seems like an unnecessary risk for an A++ job like UGA.

I semi-agree that it's risky taking a chance on a guy who hasn't been a HC, but I don't think the situations are similar.

For starters, muschamp has always been a loose cannon. I mean, the guy is deranged. Kirby seems like he'd be better suited to be the leader of a program. Also WM walked into a bit of a down situation at UF. They were having a down year (5 losses) when he came in, plus all the mess that urban left. Kirby would be coming into a pretty solid situation, could potentially end up with a top 5 recruiting class of the bat, and (if you believe the talks) would already have an ace DC in pruitt to keep some continuity.
