Given the recent thread about away teams not wanting to visit Auburn through much of the 20th century, which led to discussions of the Iron Bowl in Birmingham, the Egg Bowl in Jackson, and Arky playing in LR. Did A&M or Mizzou ever play a common opponent on a neutral site or an away game on a non home city of the opponent. I would imagine they made a few trips to LR when they played Arky on a regular schedule.

The Dome the Rams played in? Was Kansas in Arrowhead? Were these regular venues for those or just one time neutral sites? Did Mizzou ever traditionally play a rival at a neutral site?

Back when Houston and SMU were worth a shite didn't they play in their cities' NFL venues? So A&M and even Arkansas would've had to deal with that in the SWC I assume.

Arky in Jerryworld since 2009 is about it, and I hate that. College games should be played on campus.

Agree for the most part, but back in the day it was something special to see fans from across the state go to Birmingham and Jackson for their game. It was more like a state championship atmosphere and helped make the rivals grow having the stands equally divided. I still like seeing the Red River Shootout in the old Cotton Bowl with half the stadium orange and the other half red.

Was that in SWC days or after the BIG 12 was created and just an OOC scheduled game?

I suppose part of the reason those rivals are more enjoyable is that the stadiums weren't NFL Stadiums. Instead they were older traditional stadiums built for college football.

Back in the 80's (SWC days) A&M would play Houston in the Astrodome when it was our "away" game. We played SMU in the Alamodome at least once as an in-conference game.

That was SWC days. Also, as the previous poster said, we played U. of Houston in the Astrodome. All the others were college venue.

When the series was started it was neutral site or nothing. But now that both teams are in the SEC it should be on campus.

Am I saying that Arkansas or Texas A&M should not play at Jerryworld? No. But it should be a special out of conference match up early in the season. There are plenty of teams who would sell their soul to play the Hogs or the Aggies in Jerryworld.

Trying to lure a big OOC opponent early in the season... Jerryworld. Bring in a big opponent and I am fairly sure both Arkansas and the Aggies will sell out. And instead of a once a year thing its two times a year.

The series against Illinois was about six games at the dome in St. Louis every year. I think it ended because we had won all of them. Basically the halfway point of the two schools. They play basketball every year in downtown St. Louis as well, though basketball season has quite a few more games. The arrowhead series was like six years and I think the only reason it ended was we left for the SEC.

the only problem with that is due to the way teams schedule it would pretty much make it to where we'd never see an OOC P5 team in our home stadiums.

Only the Arky game at Jerry World since we moved from the SWC to the Big12 and now the SEC.

We played SMU at the Cotton Bowl and Texas Stadium regularly. Houston we'd play at the Astrodome.

Also, even further back A&M played Tech 8 straight years in San Antonio from 1943-50 and in Dallas 3 times from 1951-59. They also played a game in Amarillo in 1932.

From 1899-1921 A&M played LSU 10 times w/3 in College Station, 2 in Baton Rouge, and 1 game each in Galveston, Dallas, New Orleans, San Antonio, and Houston. Then from 1923-1986 A&M and LSU played 28 times. 26 of those were in Baton Rouge w/the other two in Dallas and Miami. The 1987 game was the first time LSU had gone to College Station since 1922.

The Texas game wasn't played in College Station until 1915. From 1894-1914 the game was in Austin 12 times, Houston and San Antonio both 4 times, and Dallas 1 time.

From 1899-1926 A&M and Baylor played 29 times w/19 played in Waco, 3 in Dallas, and 6 in College Station.

Out of 72 games A&M and Arkansas have 12 games in Little Rock, 5 in Arlington, and 1 in Dallas w/the rest in Fayetteville and College Station.

Thanks for the history lesson A&M and Mizzou fans. It seems that Jerry wants to turn A&M/Arky into the West's version of the World's Largest Cocktail Party.

The Cotton Bowl did not belong to SMU or the Cowboys so it was a shared facility. I think today if you go to a game at the Cotton Bowl, it is best to purchased extra auto insurance because it is pretty certain it will stolen or the rims and tires will be missing. City of Dallas should shut it down.

Cougar High played at Rice Stadium. They later moved to the Astrodome when they moved to the SWC. Horrible place for college football. They drew about 35 people. Watching an SMU-Cougar High game was brutal. Players outnumbered the fans.

Fair Park is in a poor area but that isn't close to true.

Still better than going anywhere near the Houston campus. That area is basically Fallujah, except more violence.

Been to both Da Nang and Fair Park.

Felt safer at Da Nang than a night game at Fair Park (Cotton Bowl). Was packing in Da Nang, unarmed at Fair Park.
