Question: Who did Saban consider to be LSU's biggest rival when he was at LSU?

Everybody on this board has been hyping up the LSU/Bama rivalry over the last couple weeks and rightfully so. It's been a great rivalry for the past ten years. But I'm just wondering if Saban thought of Alabama as a big rivalry game for LSU when he coached there. I've noticed that Saban has been very careful about saying LSU is a huge rivalry game for Bama like he has for Tennessee and Auburn. It makes me wonder if Saban doesn't view Bama/LSU as a big rivalry because he never considered Bama to be a huge rival for LSU when he coached there.

He was big on every game being the biggest bc it was the next & not treating any supposed rivalry games as if they were anything special

Can you imagine if Saban never left LSU? They would probably be in a dynasty right now with 5 or 6 more national championships.

Ole Miss, Auburn
At the time Auburn was good too.

LSU-Auburn was THE game in the early 2000s while Saban was here.

It was but he always downplayed it other than to say "you come to LSU to play in these kinds of games" like he did before every game with a top 15ish opponent.
Bama wasn't good most of the time he was here & he thought nothing of them at all except for when Fran got all upset with that made up speech.

I'd agree. Probably AU. Neither Bama or OF were at their peaks during his LSU days. Tubs' AU teams were physical challenges.
(Is it just me, but doesn't AU playing good defense this year just seem "right"? I haven't ever wrapped my head around these last 7-8 years of subpar AU defense. My entire life, even years Auburn wasn't great you could count on them playing tough on D. This just feels "right" to me to see them good on that side of the ball.)

Auburn without question. Florida was a distant 2

Definitely Florida after Spurrier came into BR and laid 50+ on Saban

Spurrier never scored 50+ on Saban. They did put 44 on him one year in Tiger Stadium though.

Nick Saban doesn't have "rivals". He doesn't have "let down" games either.

The same rival he has at Bama, complacency.
