If you had the opportunity to drop Butch and pick up Pinkel, would you? You can't deny the fact that Butch is one hell of a recruiter. However, it seems like nothing really comes to fruition with these guys.

On the other hand, you have Pinkel. A coach that gets it done despite having a difficult time recruiting an abundance of 5-star athletes.

With that being said, would you rather boast a top tier recruiting class or win ball games?

Apparently by "gets it done", you mean "acquires shiny silver medals".

We aren't talking about the lofty standards of Bama here... The team in question is UT

Pinkel doesn't win enough offseason championships. He only wins real division championships. Vols are not interested.

I just don't understand the desire to settle for mediocrity. You guys have really fallen off from the glory days.

Since division play began Tennessee has NEVER won the division, the SEC, or a national championship.

Wait...my mistake. I was thinking of Ole Miss.

How good would Pinkle be if he had to work with mostly sophomores and incoming freshman?

Pinkle is good at developing players but that's after they have been trained for 3-4 years.

Butch's classes are still sophomores and incoming freshmen.

At least we have had glory days.

You guys keep your drunk. We'll keep Butch.

Maybe because we think that Butch has potential for more than mediocrity. Pinkel's good, but he couldn't have recruited us out of Dookey's slaw and he's not a championship coach.

He recruited Missouri out of their dark times. One could argue, with the UT brand, Pinkel would be able to increase his reach to the more "desired" athlete. With how well he develops recruits, imagine what he would do with the talent you guys bring in!

Let's talk after 2016 to see what Butch does the next two years.

They were freshmen and sophomores last year.

Let's be honest it much easier to recruit to Tennessee than Missouri. UT is much closer to GA, Florida, SC, etc and has a much better base of instate talent. Mizzou has good facilities but they are no where near Tennessee's. It would be very interesting to see what Pinkel could do at a place that had more of those built in advantages because what he has done at Mizzou has been incredible especially the last two seasons.

Pinkel was a win away in the Big 12 championship game against Oklahoma in 2007 from playing for the BCS title for goodness sakes.

Could Pinkel recruit quite as well as Jones as at UT is a tough question to answer (probably could do fairly close considering Dooley had a top 10 class) and GP to this point has a far superior coaching resume. If it were me I would rather have Pinkel, recruiting would be solid and coaching/player development would be through the roof.
