Was there any part of you that thought the O hire would work at LSU or did you know that he would just pick right up where he left off at Ole Miss?

I'm sure y'all are loving every minute of this train wreck and I don't blame you one bit for doing so.

Everyone knew this was going to happen. Well, everyone other than LSU fans.

When we ended up with O, he was like our 7th choice. Most of the guys at the top of our list wouldn't even interview. Then ones that did ultimately took better jobs. To me, having to pick O was a sad indictment of our program.

For LSU, it was a similar situation. But I saw it more as an indictment of their fan base and administration. Incredibly unrealistic expectations combined with an incompetent administration made the job toxic. LSU's two "targets" were never coming there. Aleva staked his job on either Herman or Jimbo. When they melted on him he literally didn't have anywhere else to turn.

Aleva is just as much a dead man walking as O. He should go first. Then O will eventually get canned.

But the problem won't change. LSU can't attract the handful of coaches who would be acceptable to the delusional fan base. It is a vicious cycle.

Yeah, some of you guys did. Most were in the deepest depths of denial.

Here is my honest answer. While HC at Ole Miss, he brought in some serious talent that included alot of guys that went on to the NFL. The "missing piece" that he didn't get put in place was a QB. He recruited Snead, who had a NFL caliber arm, but he never got the chance to have him in a game since he had to sit out a year. I know many laugh at Snead, but Nutt ruined him. If you watched tape on kid, you'd see where he became gun shy after his 1st year at Ole Miss. But, I truly believe if Coach O was given another year and had Snead (along with Dan Werner as his QB coach), then Coach O might still be the HC at Ole Miss today.

It's hard to rag on the guy too much when it was obvious that he was busting his arse. At the same time, there were those at Ole Miss that wanted to see him fail, because they felt he didn't "fit" at Ole Miss. Add to that the media that bashed him at every turn (including Neal McCready who was working in Mobile at the time), and the guy had the deck stacked against him from day 1. It was a no win situation for him. Ole Miss fans were pulling for the team to lose just so they could get rid of him and put one of "their own" in as HC at Ole Miss. The fanbase was truly split about him because he was viewed as an outsider and not someone that fit in.

After leaving Ole Miss, he admitted the things that he did wrong - the whole "wild boyz" crap, to over working the players. So, the guy isn't dumb, as he learned from his mistakes. And, he took what he learned and changed how he treated players. How many other coaches at his age are willing to admit their mistakes and actually change their approaches? I would guess that it's not many.

Having said all of that, I was actually pulling for him to do good at USC, and then again at LSU. It's one thing for a coach to admit no faults and to go through the motions, but that's not what you get with Coach O. I'm still pulling for the guy to succeed.

Let the downvotes flow...........

Even when Jimbo andvthen Herman said no, why did Alleva not go thru a true search and look at other candidates like Scott Frost, Neal Brown, Mike Norvell, Jeff Brohm, etc? He jumped the gun hiring O for no reason. I thought it may work at LSU considering y’all have the ability to hire top coordinators. But O can definitely be a train wreck

I think Frost has to be the #1 candidate for alot of teams. I also think a good number of teams will also be reaching out to Jeremy Pruitt.

After his success as interim at USC and last year at LSU, I thought he would be successful.

Dude...this is ridiculous! There were so many of us that could not figure out why Alleva panicked and picked a DL coach. We didn't like the hire...but some of us actually put our head in the sand and hoped that it would turn out alright. Well, that ship has sailed...soooooo.

That's understandable. No one wants to coach at OLE PISS

If he learned how to treat players better, then why does he keep throwing them under the bus?

I had hoped he wouldn’t be this bad so he would last a little longer.

And yet Ole Miss will probably make a decent hire while LSU is stuck with Joe Alleva and Coach O

Don't split a gut peaches, that says more about the state of LSU than it does OM.

They were playing snippets of Coach O's radio show on our local sports show yesterday for the lulz. Things look pretty grim down there in Baton Rouge. And that's putting it mildly.

It almost makes me feel sorry for O, because hell, who wouldn't jump at a job like that? And this mess is on Alleva's shoulders. Nobody else's.

But then I remember this guy challenges his players to fights in the locker room. So I lol instead.
