The team ive watched the past 3 games is getting zero push from the oline and its defense is being pushed around upfront as well. Just saying imo its not all coaching. Im sure the loss of the FB and TE don't help either but this team isn't ready right now.

I agree and I don't think Miles will get us back to where we want to be. Next year was never gonna be the year like some LSU fans want to believe

Do you consider LSU and "elite" program? If so, we should be able to attract an "elite" coach correct?

I've never considered LSU an elite program. Being an elite program to me means having sustained success over several decades. The only truly elite program in the SEC is Alabama. Florida is close to joining that group and LSU could if it continues to have success, but lot's of teams have done what LSU has so far.

Second tier job and program. Ohio St, Texas, Alabama, USC are first tier.

L5U is in the group with Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan, Oregon and some others maybe.

I'd put Oklahoma, Michigan and maybe even Florida in the first tier. Oregon is 3rd tier.

Well if thats true, lets look at the records the past 10 years....LSU is an elite program and unlike many of those "other elite programs", we have an elite coach who has been here for all of the past 10 years!!

All-time? No. We are 11th in all-time wins and 8th in all-time bowl apps. Almost a Top Ten program.

Since 2000? Yes. Easily. We are in the Top 3 nationally in victories since 2000, and tied for 2nd in NC Game apps, and tied for 2nd in NC Game victories - nationally. We also have 5 SECG apps and 4 titles; and:
We have been to 19 bowl games and had 19 winning seasons in the last 21 years, including 16 in a row and have had ten 10-win or better seasons in the last 2 decades.

A new coach would only provide a fresh energy and perhaps new schemes. The talent is there and always will be there as long as the state of Louisiana remains 95% locked down as far as recruiting goes.

Even then, I think the problems are more on youth of the team than coaching. The coach has experience...the players don't. Look at how many TRUE soph are in leadership roles and/or playing extensively

(Brandon Harris, LF7, Dupre, Diarse, Quinn, Tyron Johnson, KJ Malone, Will Clapp, Darrell Williams, Derrius Guice, Jamal Adams, Arden Key, Kevin Tolliver, Donte Jackson)

Outside of Travin Dural, Tre'Davious White, Colin Jeter, Vadal Alexander, Deion Jones, Beckwith and Lewis Neal,

The majority of their key players and guys you could consider leaders are Freshman or Sophomore. Mostly True Fr or Soph. With Les Miles this team is better next year, with another coach, this team is better next year.

Does this team beat Bama next year regardless of who is coaching? Maybe, maybe not. The move would be more due to boredom and wanting to bring in fresh energy than expectations for this year.

The first 6 or 7 games caused unrealistic hype and expectations for such a young team. Last 3 games are just a young team who has to learn how to step up and win when you get every team's best punch. They will improve next year.

Also, Oregon is not a tier 2 program. You have to have a NC in football in the last 25 years to do that.

And UF has won big with "2-3" elite coaches (Spurrier & Meyer). So by your definition they are an elite program

Yes. But firing miles is beyond dumb.

I Agree. One of the reason LSU is a fringe elite program is due to you always having a top 10 recruiting class. I know this also probably helped in Miles departure but let's get real. That guy with his personality walking into a recruits home could have the toddler to the grandparents crying Geaux Tigah's by the time he left.

Many schools are always that one elite coach with those few elite players away from becoming elite.

Look at Bama, no Saban, not elite

Best recruiting areas in the country include two places of concern for really all SEC fans. They are Louisiana and Georgia. These two places are hotbeds of talent. So, if either of the two major SEC universities lose their head coaches, look out for who may come in and replace them. If either one gets the right guy, major contenders, really fast. Not just for SEC titles (overall), but also national titles (championships).

Even if you're an elite program, it doesn't mean that there's an elite coach available at the exact moment that you want to hire them.
