Question for Kentucky fans and generally to everyone

Preface : Basketball is harder than anything other sport to win a national title, especially in the 1-and-done era. Stats in other threads from HOF coaches and their total national title counts bear that out. My question has no implied answer, I'm genuinely just curious what the mindset of the UK fanbase is.
Kentucky fans : Are you disappointed/upset/frustrated with only winning 1 national championship in 8 years under Cal?
Everyone else : Should they be? Keep in mind, Kentucky has been to 3 Final Fours, 5 Elite Eights, won 5 SEC Tournament and 5 SEC Regular Season Titles. However, they are Kentucky, which makes things like that matter less to them than they do to schools like ours.

I don't think they should be disappointed but I think I would get tired of the revolving door of new players each year. Obviously the catch to that is you get to have some amazing players each year. Imo part of the interest in college sports is watch the players grow from year to year. College basketball has kind of forced their hand though.

Good run for Kentucky. They have nothing to apologize for, but their bar is very high.

I think they should be but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Expectations are high every year.

I have said this in other threads. I think he should have 3 right now, the 2010 team with Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, and Patterson. And the 2015 team with the NBA all stars.
The 2011 team overachieved somewhat, and the 2014 team struggled, but made it to the title game.
4/8 final fours, 6/8 elite 8's is an astounding accomplishment.
Personally I love Cal, he's a great recruiter and a solid coach. The downside is a team of veteran talent can win at crunch time, and Cal's teams are usually all young. He will lose 8 players off this team.
We are in the hunt every year. That wasn't always the case. I'll take it.

Everyone would like to have more championships. But the reality is, our sport picks the worst (and arguably hardest) way to crown one. And he's right there among his peers with his stats.
In short, don't listen to Cowherd's nonsense that there are "questions" from the fanbase or UK's administration.

It's disappointing but more so because Duke and UConn have both won titles in the span and all four have been at our expense.
Those 4 years we were arguably the best team remaining when we lost but a horrendous shooting night ('10), Kemba Walker ('11), Shabazz Napier ('14), and a late game collapse by a historically great team ('15) has kept us from another title.

Im not sure about that. It's pretty hard to win the CWS.
Field of 64 like basketball, but unlike basketball, double elimination and the playing field dimensions are not all the same.

I don't think they should be disappointed, however, I agree with another poster that the revolving door of players would be a little tiresome. Winning would fix that, but it's not a huge issue, IMO.

In terms of success, UK is no slouch but compared to the other mega coach in the SEC, he is not the dominate coach in basketball.
2009 Saban wins BCS / Cal makes E8 || Saban > Cal
2010 Saban not in hunt / Cal makes Final Four || Saban < Cal
2011 Saban wins BCS / Cal wins NCAA || Saban = Cal
2012 Saban wins BCS / Cal in NIT (negative) || Saban > Cal
2013 Saban in Sugar (like Final Four) / Cal is Runner Up || Saban < Cal
2014 Saban in Sugar (like Final Four) / Cal in Final Four || Saban = Cal
2015 Saban wins BCS Cal is R32 || Saban > Cal
2016 Saban is Runner UP / Cal is E8 || Saban > Cal
In 8 years
Saban wins 4 Nattys, Cal wins just 1
Both have 1 Runner Up
Saban has 2 Final Fours and Cal has 2 Final Fours
Saban has no NIT type bad season or early exit (exited in first weekend)
Saban Cap One year may be similar to Elite Eight type run for UK
I think some UK fans wish Cal was the Saban of SEC and NCAA basketball but he is a step below Nick. That said he is still ahead of most of his peers. His strength is recruiting and he is good at pre game planning but seems to fail at in game adjustments (see regional vs Huggy Bear when he got out coached).
Alabama only really cares about Natty runs, so failing to make CFP is bad season
Kentucky only really cares about Natty runs, so failing to make Final Four is a bad season
In 8 years Bama has 4 titles (50.0% winning percentage)
In 8 years Cats have 1 title (12.5% winning percentage)
As a player, the 1 and done to the NBA have made UK flush with kids making a pit stop to get their dollars up and has enhanced the "prestige" value of playing at UK, however the lack of long term ties means UK may be mired in a series of years of NCAA runs that do not culminate in a Natty for the school and fans. In that sense Alabama > Kentucky but if kids stayed at least 2 years it would probably be better for the university and fans as a whole.

Yeah, it is hard to make it to the CWS especially when you are not a national seed or a host. It is not impossible to make it being a 2,3,or 4 seed (Coastal proved that) but going through two weekends of playing at somebody's home field is tough. As far as the touney goes, I think basketball is tougher because they don't have the double elimination. At least in baseball, you can have one bad game but rebound and win the series.

True, but you have to win more games. You cant expect to go too far with just a Friday and Saturday starter and one good closer.
Apples and Oranges, both are difficult to navigate.

Just a little. Not many other elite active coaches have done better and the few coaches who have a couple of Natties have fallen back to become less elite or even mediocre.
Coach K has 5 in 30 yrs at Duke. He is the grand master right now.
Pitino has 2 at two different programs
Jim Calhoun, not active, has 3
Donovan pulled off two in a row
Other than that not much doing any better.

I'll take what we have with Cal over what we had with BCG or the later tubby days anyday.
The revolving door of players leaving isn't as bad when you have another talented group coming in. We have 4 in the MCDAA Wednesday night. Pretty excited to watch them in action.

For now he's fine, but if UCLA ever gets back to winning titles and UNC, Duke, and Louisville continue to win over the next several years, Kentucky fans are going to get restless.
