So obviously this is serious recruiting season for all of us, seems to be the big topic these days and for good reason. Florida has been killing it on the trail and seems to be bringing in another great haul, congrats.

Everytime one of these guys commits to UF the top excuse/complaint is, "why would you go to a program with the coach on the hot seat" OR "is one year away from getting fired".

My question is, IS Muschamps seat actually that hot? What's the sense around Gainsville? Could he be gone next year? What WL record gets him to stay you think?

He's got to be earning himself some good credit with his recruiting. Although we all know about Zook.

I'm no gator fan but I live amongst them. The majority blame this season on Pease and injuries. They think they'll win the East next year.

Chomp's doing one heckuva job recruiting. You'd think as hot as his seat is, it'd be the death knell for this year's gator croot class.

Not even close.

Don't know how he's doing it, and I wish he wasn't, but yeah - heckuva class for the gators.

I live in FL and the consensus is if they don't impress early, he won't last the season.

Same here and, yeah - all of the gators I know are completely stunned Muschamp is still their coach and long for the day he gets canned.

It doesn't take much to recruit when you're an SEC school in FL.

I wanted him gone before we lost to Georgia Southern.

How in the world he survived after that G Southern loss is simply beyond my weak attempts at comprehension.

seems to be the anthony grant of football ... good defenses and recruiting, but absolutely no concept about offense ...

His seat is definitely still hot. People are still expecting big things mainly because most attribute it to injuries and bad offensive philosophy, both of which should be changed next year. That said, if he is 3-2 after the first 5 games the things could get really bad really fast.

Seat hot? Yes
How to cool it? It's unclear.

The main issue I have is his record against UG and FSU.

Last year was lost with injuries. Most people only apply the injury excuse to UG but we were more snake bitten. When end up with a 4th string QB and 2nd and 3rd string OL with an already inept Offense you are doomed in this league.

Losing to GA Southern was bad and not acceptable but a walk-on LB started that game. That'll give you an idea of how bad the injury bug hit. Yes, we still should have beaten them.

If Boom does leave the Offense alone enough to become just average and continues with a good defense we'll be fine.

I'm not sure 8-4 is enough to save his job unless the offense really comes around. Going 0-4 vs. UG may do it though unless we win the SEC. It's going to be interesting.

ETA: For those saying that UF fans in FL are claiming we are going to win the SEC, I say, stay away from reelgator. None of my UF friends have made such a claim.

Yeah, only to get embarrassed by a damn Big East school. It's a miracle that we won 11 games.

We need to put some fricking points on the board pronto. If we struggle in the 1st game again because we can't score there will be a bloodletting. I mean he needs to kick the shite out of whoever we play 1st like by 40 points. Everyone is done jacking around and the boosters are ready to go after Foley.

That said, IF, and it is a big if, he gets the offense going, I think he could be an awesome head coach. But I don't think it is going to happen. I think we struggle offensively early in the season and he is fired mid season. I hope I am wrong....I guess.

Agreed.

That being said the man knows Defense and is a good coach overall. Just needs to hire the right OC.

Weird situation...

Could be retained with 7-8 wins and a good looking O.

Could be fired with 8-9 wins and a shite looking O.

Everything revolves around the perception of the program after next year. Not necessarily the W/L's.

This.

The only common denominator in FL's lack of any offense in the past 3 yrs is Muschamp. I seriously doubt both OC's were bad.

I can buy that Pease sucked. He isn't a QB coach, and his O's have been suspect at his other stops, besides Boise. Weis would have been pretty good with more time IMO. He was getting ready to land a legendary WR class for UF, before his exit.
