Sumlin used him at some strange points last night, and he took maybe 10 snaps if I recall. Did he promise not to redshirt him or something? He's a talented kid for sure just seems odd how he's being used considering Allen is a very good QB.

Very bizarre usage, not just in this game, but also in the ASU game

Until a defense can stop him I would like to see Kyler in on all 3rd and shorts

Sumlin promised not to redshirt and give him serious playing time.

Kyler sucks as a passer. When he's in the game the defense has to play man coverage and spy him. He's a one trick pony and he won't do jack shite against good defenses.

will his playing time increase you think? he didn't throw a pass did he? I was nervous AF when he was in there considering how slow our LB's are

No. I think it'll be one or two series a game like it has been. Kyle Allen seems to be getting better every game. Love his play in crunch time.

They like to give him a limited package each week. It's a change of pace and the kid is obviously crazy fast.

He throws the ball well, but he can't read a defense yet.

It looks more like actual football discussion to me.

It's a good question.
Sumlin has repeatedly said that we have no QB controversy--that if two guys play, so be it.
They both have different areas within their skill sets in which they excel; my bet would be that we'll continue to see Kyler play during certain situations.

Kyler passes fine. He didn't get on campus until August so he probably knows 1/3 of the offense.

He's loosened up he defense both games and then Kyle comes in and wrecks shop

Ark was shutting down our run game. He's a change of pace to mix things up. We moved the ball fairly well with him.

I thought it was odd that during a really important drive late in the fourth quarter Sumlin let Kyler get the first three snaps and then brough Allen in on a 3rd and 9.

I get bringing him in every once in a while for a change of pace, but Allen was playing great. It worked out, but I'm not sure why he would risk getting Allen out of rhythm.

It's not Sumlin it's our OC Spavital. He has moments of greatness and then moments where he goes into complete brain farts like when he stuck in Kyler justo run it twice and then put Kyle back in on 3rd and long.... For those saying Kyler is a shitty passer...you obviously never watched the 42-0 kid in high school. He is a hell of a passer. Just isn't adjusted to the speed of the game and isn't reading defenses well which have led him to poor decisions in the passing game. He is just a true fish that arrived on campus less than 3 months ago. Harris is much better than he was. Since when did we judge a QBs future on the beginning of his freshman season. Even Johnny needed a redshirt year. Both our QBs are very good. Our OCs attempt at sparking our offense with Kyler for 3 plays with designed runs wasn't the brightest though

I personally don't care for the switch, but I'm fairly sure promises were made. Kyler might be an amazing player down the line, but he needs serious work on his accuracy and reads. My biggest concern is what happens next season.

Oh well. Not the worst problem to have.

You obviously have not watched him throw, but you keep saying that.

I watched Manziel scrimmage as a true freshman and Kyler is better than Manziel as a true freshman.

Sumlin is gonna make sure Kyler stays happy.

I like the idea of giving him a few series in each game. He needs to get physically stronger to withstand the hits and isn't ready to be a starter.
