Okay so I remember during that game they asked Les Miles about the game/Alabama....did he not say something along the lines of "it would be an honor/I would be honored" to play Alabama again? All this talk about LSU's decline made me think. If I remembered correctly, could that subtle lobbying for playing Alabama again ultimately be his undoing as a coach?

Pretty sure he said that, and I think it was Saban's bitching that got you guys the rematch, not necessarily a comment most people forgot about in the post game. But he got what he wished for

If that LSU team had any type of decent quarterback, they could've beaten 2011 Alabama. Those teams may be the top two teams of the last decade which is impressive considering how horrible the Tiger QBs were.

You might want to double check the 2011 schedule.

This I can agree with, no doubt.
Although if we had a kicker, 9-6 wouldn't have happened.

I'm referring to the 21-0 debacle. I, along with every other person in the South, knows they beat Alabama 9-6.

It was an honor to play Ala. again and a dis-honor on the part of Les Miles. It was his worst coached game EVER. It's obvious he has not recovered well from that embarrassment but he is still a great recruiter and coach who I think still has one more good run in him. LSU was approaching dynasty status at the time. He's working on getting that back....

Saban's bitching

Everytime this comes up I point out that the biggest factor in the Mulligan Bowl wasn't Saban or ESPN. It was that snivelling coward Mike Gundy who played turtle rather than make the case for his team. He had a stronger case than Saban but he betrayed his team due to his countish personal feelings towards Miles. Saban fought hard for his team, as he should.

nothing gundy said would've changed anything ... lsu and bama were the two best teams in college football that year, by far ... that's who should've been in the title game ...

that comment has absolutely nothing to do with games that LSU loses now, and you are retarded for associating them.

He owed it to his team to try. After all, they were Big 12 champs and No. 2 in every computer. Herbie's one and done "eyeball test" was a joke, but Gundy hid under his desk instead of pressing his stronger case.

And again, I've got no beef at all with what Saban did.

Just have to disagree about Bama belonging in that game but we have all been down that road.

To me Bama was one of the best 2 teams last year and wasn't in the final.

He said he would be HONORED to play that team again. It was one of the most impressive post-game comments from a winning coach I have ever seen.

You can say a lot of things about Les Miles, but you can never question his appreciation of the game and the respect for other teams and coaches.

Les knew he wasn't winning that game once it was announced.

Didn't he also have a vote in the coaches poll that year...put Bama ahead of Oklahoma State in the final regular season poll or something like that?

Yes he said it, I knew we couldn't beat bama again unless it was in death valley. Unfortunately SEC and Bama bias put them in the title game. Thus #tDeclinehadbegun
