***Yep, LSU beat our arse. I know that. But I'm hoping some of you can act somewhat like adults and have a real conversation. I'm probably wrong.***

I remember this offseason that LSU fans only said chubb was better because he got more of a workload and had way more carries. That Les Miles doesn't really feature one back and likes to split the work among all of his talented backs. I was just perusing the up to date SEC stats and I was shocked to see that even though LSU didn't play in their first game against mcneese, LF actually has 2 MORE carries than chubb. That would put LF at 24 cpg with chubb at 17.

So what gives here? Is Miles changing his entire philosophy to give LF more carries to try to win him a heisman, or does he not believe enough in the backups to give them more carries?

We run the ball much more than Georgia (and everyone else in the NCAA). Fournette gets a portion of those carries, but there are more to go around. I think that explains it. Also, LSU played two divisional conference games. His load will obviously by higher in those types of games.

Georgia has run it 150 times, LSU 137.

LSU 45.6 attempts a game
UGA 37.5 APG

Fournette is a home-run threat anytime he touches the ball. He is our version of Cam Newton because he is a very electric player. Luckily we get him one more year.

wow, legit response. I didn't consider them playing 2 west teams.

Appreciate the response. I'll probably ignore everyone else's from here on out

LSU hasn't had the cupcake game luxury yet

I sincerely hope he doesn't play a lot next Saturday

Don't think he is giving Fournette the majority of the carries to help his Heisman campaign! That's laughable. But he does realize what he has in him and that he needs to get him the ball more than what he's done with past backs!

I think Les is throwing him a bone to help his heisman chances since the media started the hype early

I think he is giving him more carries because it just makes sense. He is the best player we have had in years. It would be foolish to not give him more carries. I don't think it is to try and boost stats.

When there is a dominant RB Miles will let him be the feature back. Last year LF was inconsistent and Magee/Hilliard were serviceable. Jeremy Hill was the feature back in 2013 and carried much more than anyone else. Stevan Ridley was also a Miles back who became a feature guy in his career.

Expect to see Fournette get spelled more often as the offense develops and opens up. Williams/Guice/Brossette are hungry for carries and there's still the threat of BH running and the WRs getting some catches.

He is the best player in college football, why wouldn't he get the bulk of the carries?

We've played @ MSU, Auburn and @ Syracuse so far

UGA has played ULM, @ Vandy, SC and Southern so far

The aim of the staff all along is to get Fournette 20-25 touches a game, which he's well within that frame right now.

Not great times to give two true freshman a lot of carries

Most of us were saying he was better because he plays in the SEC lEast and had at least a serviceable QB, but Okay.

Anyone who says he isn't giving him more work due to the possibility of the Heisman is lying or delusional. But I think a lot of it is the fact that besides Darrell Williams the only other RBs we have are true freshmen, when last year there were two seniors ahead of LF, both ended up getting drafted.

I think as the season goes you'll see another RB emerge as the clear number two (looking like Guice right now, but will be hard for him to pass up Williams at first) and they will get 13-15ish carries a game. LSU rides the hot hand, and with LF playing like he is right now its hard to justify not riding him. If Guice or any other RB is playing really well in a game they will get their carries.

Georgia throws the ball about 6 more times a game than LSU does. Georgia has about 50 more plays on the year (accounted for by the extra game).

ETA: No one thought Chubb was a function of his workload. He is a monster. He did have a more proficient passing game last year.

The idea that Les doesn't really feature a back is also just flat out wrong. He's not going to run anybody into the ground, but Hill, Ridley, Scott, and Hester have all had seasons at LSU where they've clearly been the horse in the backfield.

I'll be shocked if Fournette gets more than about a dozen carries against E. Michigan next week, and the same against Western Kentucky. That's how Les will keep his workload under control.

When you have this type of once in a generation talent, you give him the ball for the rest of the country to enjoy. He's too fun to watch to not give him carries.

Les wants to secure game victories and will run fornette until that's in hand. If games were blow outs then obviously it wouldn't be necessary to give him mor carries.
