How can a team who lost 4 first round picks (including a heisman trophy winner), and a two year starting QB, from a team that lost 3 games be one of the heavy favorites to win the BCS. Are they that deep across the board that they can just fill in these huge losses and not just miss a beat but be better than last year? No trying to flame but is a legitimate question.

Defense, OL, Trent Richardson, and favorable schedule.

How does a team that lost their best player at each defensive unit think they are still among the best on defense?

The heisman trophy winner is pretty much replaced and maybe bested..

This...except for schedule. It isn't easy but maybe it is for SEC standards

Defense will be better, maybe a lot better. Other than that I don't know.

How can this question get asked EVERY day by an LSU/Au fan?

I didn't say easy, I said favorable. Getting Arkansas & LSU at home is huge.

good question but is it a fair comparison. Peterson was drafted high but is the only first round talent that was lost vs. 4 players with first round talent. Again, Bama is picked to be better than last year.

I'm taking a wait and see approach. Last years Bama squad was being touted as 'potentially one of the best ever'.

Its up to the QB really. I'm feeling better and better about WR and the line should be fine. Obviously we need to keep TR healthy.

And the defense should be nasty.

Oh and we need better special teams, primarily punting.

that's fine. but, who are you going to put ahead of Bama? Personally, i hate preseason polls. but if you bring back 9 guys off a top 10 defense (statistically) and 4 of 5 from your O-Line and you finished in the top 15 the year before, you're going to be top 5 in the next preseason. that's just how it works.
