In the sense that both went from position coach to interim HC, then were given the job full time and can recruit. That's about where the similarities end.

Dabo didn't have a previous stint as a colossal failure as a HC. Dabo got the HC job at Clemson in his late 30's. O got the LSU job in his mid 50's. Dabo was thought of as a coach who would eventually become a coordinator and then HC. O had been based over for coordinator roles his entire career (including 2 years ago at MSU).

O may kill it and prove he's learned from his mistakes. You can certainly win easier at LSU than you can at Ole Miss, but O was only going to get a major HC opportunity at one place - LSU...and that was only b/c he loved the place and sounded like them. Dabo was always thought of as a guy who would get his shot.

Gus could do it with another year of fluke wins. Maybe it happens again but I doubt it.

Mac has to win the SEC and beat FSU to end the season so I wouldn't count on him.

Butch couldn't do it with the AP all-American team.

Ed Orgeron? LOL.

Kirby Smart will have the pieces in 2 years to do it but we don't know how he will respond.

Nick Saban runs this conference and it will change when he dies or retires. Then Dabo will run it.

There are only about 10 programs that can truly give a yes answer to this question right now and that number may be generous.

Everyone's answer should be yes. If Gene Chizik won one, then anyone is capable.

Yes. Kang can recruit the kind of athletes needed to win a title and knows how to manage a fricking roster. Richt was a nice guy, but going into a season with 75 scholarship players by your own choosing is fricking retarded shite.

Nobody will ever win a national championship at Ole Miss, I'm pretty sure even Nick Saban would do a terrible job here

but do you feel confident that there is a realistic path to a national championship with your current coach at your program?
With Matt Canada and Dave Aranda as OC/DC, yes. They're both Top 10 in the business.

Will take a few more SEC Caliber OL's before a NC happens; maybe an SEC West Title in 17 when Canada evolves the Offense.

O is not the same HC he was at OM. Coaches evolve, learn and get better. Saban is not the same coach he was at LSU and Miami.

O improved the Offense overnight after Miles was canned, jettisoned the dead weight off the Staff (Peveto, Craig, Juluke) and brought in a Top 5 recruiting class even with much uncertainty surrounding the program. Remains to be seen if he can manage it all and consistently make all the right moves at the right time....................

I really have no idea.

Part of me says no, the other says he can recruit his arse off and has pretty good coordinators in place to run the show.

Not applicable at this point

Good assessment. So far, things are going about as well as could be hoped for with O. I'd be cautiously optimistic as an LSU fan.

Yes. Maybe not immediately but Mac is a good coach just needs to get better QB play

Not to devalue the fact that Mac has won the east twice (or butch jones has shite the bed two years in a row), but I always get the feeling I'm watching a les miles team when the gators are playing.

sec teams that can go all the way are LSU, BAMA, GA, an UF with their current coaches.

Some teams like VU, UK, and MSU and SC will never make it regardless of who coaches then less NS and Urbs.

Don't think the OM program or TAMU can do it with their current lame coach. AU probably belongs in this group with their current coach. UT and ARK wont make it with their current head banger of a coach.

Last first-time champion in football was Florida in 1996, not BYU.
