Tennessee is #8 even with a 5-2 record. Tennessee is IN if we win the SECCG.

quote:

1. Alabama: The Crimson Tide ran away from Texas A&M. They still have tough games left at LSU and Auburn.
2. Michigan: The Wolverines' schedule looks easier every week. They keep piling up the points though.
3. Clemson: The Tigers had a week off to get ready for Florida State.
4. Texas A&M: Alabama handed the Aggies their first loss of the season, but Texas A&M's CFP hopes aren't gone yet.
5. Ohio State: The Buckeyes let one get away at Penn State. Like Texas A&M, their playoff hopes aren't gone yet, and Ohio State has a better chance than A&M does of winning its league.
6. Louisville: Lamar Jackson had another spectacular day in a destruction of NC State.
7. Washington: The Huskies' six FBS opponents so far have a combined record of 16-28. Their tougher tests are coming up quickly.
8. Tennessee: The Volunteers have only lost to Alabama (undefeated) and Texas A&M (only lost to Bama). Wins over Virginia Tech, Florida and Georgia have Tennessee at the top of the list of two-loss teams.
9. Wisconsin: The Badgers keep pounding away. They have only lost to Ohio State and Michigan and may get another crack at one of them eventually.
10. Florida State: The Seminoles have gotten back on track since losing to Louisville and North Carolina. They will try to damage Clemson's CFP hopes this week.

24. Baylor: The Bears had a bye this week, which actually improved their strength of schedule.

Auburn will be #12 going into the Iron Bowl after dominating Ole Miss, Vandy, and UGA. After they beat Alabama, they'll jump A&M and secure the SEC championship bid on their way to a CFP appearance.

Posibarner engaged.

Bama and Michigan seem like locks to me at this point.

Clemson will probably lose at FSU this weekend. Of course Clemson is already assured a spot in the ACC-CG.

A&M seems like they have a shot at being a SEC #2 entry.

Washington will stumble down the stretch.

Louisville has a good shot at the 4th spot ... voters only need a reason to jump them over Clemson.

OSU will lose to Michigan.

Wisconsin ... I dunno. But if they do somehow manage to make the playoffs it will sure make Les' loss to them look less unacceptable ... hell, it already does.

They're assuming a lot considering that the first poll doesn't come out until November 1st.

If you assume that Clemson loses in Tallahassee and Nebraska loses in Madison, your top ten looks like this:

1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Washington
4. Ohio State (better OOC opponents than A&M)
5. Clemson
6. Louisville
7. Texas A&M
8. Wisconsin
9. Baylor
10. Florida State

So you'd take Georgia or Florida straight up at a neutral site over Wisconsin, Oklahoma, USC or Colorado?

You'd lose some money.

Not so fast my friend.

In the event of a 3-way tie between 7-1 teams, the tiebreaker will come down to the records of the respective east opponents.

Right now:

Alabama's are 9-5
A&M's are 8-6
Auburn's are 8-7

Auburn would need the following to happen:

-Georgia would have to go 4-1 to close the year
-Vanderbilt would have to go 3-1 to close the year
-Kentucky would have to go 2-3 or worse to end the year
-Tennessee would have to go 3-2 or worse to end the year
-South Carolina must go 2-3 or worse to end the year

If that happens:

Georgia would be 8-4
Vanderbilt would be 7-5
Kentucky would be 6-6
Tennessee would be 8-4
South Carolina would be 5-7

I would take Virginia Tech and Florida over those teams, yes. Georgia would destroy Colorado, USC, and is about even with Oklahoma and Wisconsin
