I worry about you UGA fans. I know most of you are pretty sensible, and I can't argue that you may be in the conversation for the SEC and more next year, but I rarely see any UGA fans modestly predict the next season.

No need to worry about us. I'm glad our fans are still hopeful, and nothing I said was unreasonably optimistic.

Obviously places a lot of pressure on Richt, again.

Good. The program could use a little external pressure. Lord knows they aren't getting it from the UGA admin. The last time he faced pressure to bounce back, we went from 6-6 to 10-2.

yeah but your defense sucks

And I won't disagree. However, it's worth pointing out that Wiggins, Langley, Floyd, and Matthews were all true freshmen. Sterling Bailey and Quincy Mauger were getting their first real PT. I'm not saying they'll magically transform into all americans, but logic would tell us that it's not unreasonable to expect true freshmen to get better.

Our DL was a bright spot and all but Garrison smith return. Our LBs should be incredible, as we return the SEC's leading tackler, plus his partner on the inside, plus Floyd and J.Jenkins on the outside. Harvey Clemons and Matthews (hold your comments) are a formidable S tandem, just gotta have the corners step us.

Besides, our offense should be good enough to carry us pretty far. Our offense this year when healthy was virtually unstoppable.

Its not the players that is the problem.

You all had some injuries on the offensive side of the ball no doubt but were pretty healthy on the defensive side of the ball when Mizzou came into Athens and hung 41 on you.

Just saying.

We were averaging better than 41 points/game before all those injuries on the offensive side of the ball.

Just saying.

I'm guessing Mizzou is second here? So you've got Vandy BELOW Tennessee?

Our 2011 and 2012 preseason predictions in the offical thread were dead on.

Right after the UK game I heard UGA folks on the radio indicating that despite having a new QB, they'd be the most well-positioned team with a new QB to compete for the national title

They should be taken as seriously as the people who call into finebaum. They do not represent our fanbase.

There were multiple problems. Our youth defensively was absolutely one of them.

Mason is a huge step back from Murray so all things being equal, they will not be as good as they were in August of 2013.

So same crap D, slightly worse O

That crap D in August was starting a true freshman (after his suspension was over), another unknown at S (after our other starting was out), and true freshmen CBs. I'm not saying we'll be awesome, but it's unreasonable to think the true freshman in their first 2 or 3 games won't be ANY better.

Georgia's D will improve but they will take a step back at QB. Georgia finishes around the same as they did this year, or maybe slightly better.

I should have been more clear, it was Buck. Anyway, I'd be surprised if any of you denied that the expectation has become title or bust for at least a fair amount of the fan base.

When I was in Athens, a lot of the students, especially transplants, took that attitude. I think the pressure on Richt is fair, I just think there is still a lot to be said for having good seasons and winning some big games.

clearly

why?

Our offense was without Keith Marshall for half the season, Gurley for about 4 games, Malcolm Mitchell the entire season, JSW 2 months, bennett for over a month, and Conley for several weeks.

You can't say the offense that lined up brendan douglas, rhett mcgowan, kenneth towns, and reggie davis is comparable to the one in 2014.

And our schedule this year has clemson, tennessee, auburn, and tech at home. And replace LSU with arkansas. We won't finish below 2nd in the east.

Some of you are such freaking babies. Your defense sucked, injuries or not, last year. Some of you liked to hide behind the injuries on the offensive side of the ball to avoid that reality.

Georgia wasnt winning the East with that defense last year regardless of injuries on the O side of the ball.

Early in the year I would have taken UGA> Mizzou

They had the best RB in the conference and one of the better QBs-arguably the best

Buck said we'll contend for the national title next year? At any rate, buck is borderline retarded and nobody should listen to what he says anyway.

What part of the fanbase? The Clampetts that live in south georgia and don't go to any games and buy their knockoff UGA gear from walmart? Yeah, I'm sure they expect us to never lose a game ever. The fans that have some common sense hope/expect to be in contention for the SEC, which isn't unreasonable considering we're UGA.

Students dude, students. And transplants at that, people who have never followed UGA football until they started school. That'd be like me going to indiana or syracuse or something without knowing a thing about the current state of their bball program (because I don't) and expecting to make the final 4, just because.

I take it you haven't seen our SEC schedule next year nor do you realize we are returning 18 starters.

There's no way to know that. I feel confident in saying we wouldn't have lost to Vandy. Do Gurley, Mitchell, Bennett, Marshall, or JSW make the difference against Mizzou? No way to know for sure, but I think it's a decent chance.
