Last year, Ole Miss produced a remarkable 32 total turnovers (22 ints and 10 FF).

For reference, here are the totals for as far back as numbers were available on ESPN.

2013 22 (13/9).

2012 28 (15/13)

2011 17 (10/7)

2010 18 (6/12)

2009 24 (13/11)

2008 23 (16/7)

2007 18 (8/10)

2006 12 (3(!)/9)

2005 19 (6/13)

2004 19 (8/11)

Given the historical background, 32 is quite the outlier. Other notes, Ole Miss lost Golson (2d rd., Steelers, 10 ints) and Prewitt (undrafted (?), Titans, 3 ints).

As such, predict the turnover output of the Ole Miss defense.

I'll start. 21 (10/11)

Given that turnovers were a large part of Ole Miss' recipe last year, basically anyone who wants to see them win or anyone who wants to beat them.

For reference, they beat aggy by 15 and forced 3 turnovers (2/1).

Those numbers average out to about 21.

Considering our defense is above average and 32 is on the high end, I'd put the number at about 53

So for the why does it matter crowd:

First seven games, 20 turnovers. Record: 7-0

Last six games, 12 turnovers. Record: 2-4

Turnover skill/fortune is huge for a team's chances in the conference.

It will be a number that won't require Ole Miss fans to take off their shoes to count to.

I have to ask you why you think they will outperform the pace of their best turnover season in a decade next year?
