My daughter tried to come home from NOLA last night and got turned around due to I55 being closed.

Was she able to make it back by a different route?

I have family in NOLA and friends that live in Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas are having (or about to have) the worst flooding in our history. Thousands of people are likely to have their homes flooded and their lives and careers interrupted. Sucks. This can't get over quick enough.

Get plenty of sandbags to put around your property. Seems like the same crap that happened to the Columbia, SC area last year

I-55 is closed around Amite City, which is just a little north of where I-55 and I-12 intersect. As far as I know, you can still get to Baton Rouge via I-55 to I-12 westbound, but I bet it gets hairy before you get to that Denham Springs marker. The Amite River along the EBR/Livingston Parish line is set to reach a historic high.

I-10 is closed from just beyond that Gonzales marker to well into Baton Rouge, and if Airline Hwy, which runs parallel, is above water, I bet that highway is a shitshow.

Hell, my parents house isn't even in a flood zone and they've got water halfway up their driveway. My dad can still get his truck out, but I don't think I could get to them. They've never flooded, but the water normally only gets that high during bad hurricanes, like Gustav, Rita, Katrina, Andrew.

Stanford Ave is now part of the LSU Lakes. Looks like the sorority houses are in the clear though

Holy shite. On that second picture, there are some seven figure condos to the left. I wanna see the insurance bill on just the cars on the first floor of that garage.

The police knocked on my mom's door this morning and evacuated her in Baton Rouge. MY dad is in Walker near Denim springs and said he is fine but I am watching Denim springs water rising on the weather channel. All roads closed now.

Anyone familiar with the Coursey Blvd / Jones Creek road area know if they are having any flooding in that area?

It's bad. We lost everything due to 2+ feet of water in our house. Both of our parents have 3+ in their houses and my wife's car flooded. Worst flood I've ever seen down here
