How many wins does Vandy need to make it in?

Hell, any one of us that can't field a team that can qualify for a 68 team tournament should just shut the program down. It's just unbelievable.

Just avoid 1 and done IMO
They have 5 wins vs. RPI Top 50 teams, which is better than a lot of the field seeded above them in the NCAAt. They have the #3 overall SOS in the nation.
They'll be the first at large team in the NCAAt with 15 losses. Unless they get hot in the SECt and win the whole thing and don't lose another game.

Only 5? you been paying attention the last 7-8 years? I bet the average is around 2.5
Posted on 3/5/17 at 7:12 am to Hawgeye
Yup beat A&M and that should do it.

BracketWag has Vanderbilt off the First Four and a 10 seed

Only 5 teams
Only? This is the best the league has been in basketball in years. The Big 12 is likely getting only 5-6 teams. The Pac 12 is likely only getting 4 teams.

Arkansas has won 6 of 7 including a win @ SC. SC has lost 5 of 8. There is no way SC gets a higher seed than Arkansas with a lower RPI.

I still think vandy will be sweating it if they win only one game. Some of the mid majors are losing already. It wail be interesting what they do with Illinois state, Monmouth, etc. if bucknell loses tomorrow. Thy might have a leg to stand on over vandy
But if they lose to aggy it's probably over
I can't believe how many teams are going to get in with 14 losses potentially so vandy has a better chance than I thought earlier
Some of these conference tourneys are going to have some crazy outcomes. So many middling teams

Yeah I really don't understand that. One has SC projected as 6 and Arkansas as a 9

As of Monday morning, Lunardi now has us avoiding the First Four in Dayton:

That is humiliating for LSU
It could be worse, look at Mizzou
Posted on 3/6/17 at 8:52 am to bayouhillbilly
For whatever the hell its worth, ESPN rationalized our seedings along the lines of us having an RPI top 5 win where Arkansas doesn't have a top 25 one.
And Arkansas lost to Mizzou.
Their words, not mine.

Probably win the SECT. No team has ever made it in with 15 losses as an at-large. Granted, if Vandy makes the SECT title game, it may be really really hard to keep them out of the field. To get there they need to win 3 games, 2 of them against Florida and Arkansas (maybe Ole Miss instead of Arkansas).

Illinois State, this Monmouth team, Bucknell - none of those teams is getting in. The Valley was a weak league this year Illinois St with a SOS of 138 and non conf losses to TCU, Murray & San Francisco is not getting a bid. Monmouth didn't make it last year with wins over UCLA, Georgetown, USC, Notre Dame not making it this go around. Bucknell is a good mid major but like Belmont no chance for an at large under the criteria currently used by the committee if they lose.
