Les Miles
This probably would be an ideal choice. Great guy with a great reputation.
Tommy Tuberville
Has experience helping an Ole Miss program recover from debilitating NCAA penalties.
Mike Price
Closer to his favorite clubs on the FL Panhandle.
Mike Leach
Outside-the-box frick-it and go-for-it pick.
Charlie Strong
Great recruiter. Not a good enough coach for a major program, but would fit well into a minor program like Ole Miss.
Any other suggestions?

We all know it's going to be Matt Luke

That frickin job is toxic and radioactive. They'll be lucky to get the coach from EMCC in Scooba to take it.

Lane Kiffin.
Loves coeds and Ole Miss has coeds.

No current head coach is going to leave for Ole Miss. Les Miles might be the only one on your list that could potentially take the job. Any coach that goes in there is suicide for climbing the ranks.

No way Coach Strong gets hired ever in Mississippi.

Some random 2A high school coach in Backwater, North Dakota?
Nobody worth their salt would touch that program right now with the impending NCAA hammer.

Didn't he just sign a deal to announce games on ESPN or abc?

Ole Miss needs a leader with 5* heart since they won't be landing any 5* recruits any time soon

Cannot imagine why Les Miles would consider going into that dumpster fire...

I'll do my best if they give me $500k per year for 4 yr.
I did win 322 consecutive games on NCAA 07 with Tulane

#CroOM. I can see the bumper stickers now. Sadly though OM will never hire a black coach.
Hal Mumme is also available from Belhaven University in Jackson.

I posted on another thread:
There have been many "Who the frick would take ever the job?" comments. But I think there will be plenty of interest.
A younger guy, likely a one or two-star coach would have a lot of interest. He'd make a few million $$, there would be no expectations of a winning season, and if he did get a few wins, he'd be a hero and a sought-after hire for somewhere else.
If he shits the bed, he'd still be OK because folks would say, "But look at what he had to work with."
The biggest problem will be recruiting. The new coach will likely be playing with one and two-star kids and some jucos, but, again, the Ole Miss suits will just want to play under the radar for 3 years or so, with no great concern regarding W/L.
In 3 years or so, a new escort service will be on board, bagmen, tired of losing, will become generous, and all will be well

He absolutely would get hired. Problem is that he would not take the job if offered. He was a candidate after Nutt got canned but turned us down. He spent a yr at Ole Miss as an assistant coach in 1990.

Who ranks coaches with stars? Scout?

Well ... my opinion doesn't count ... but, you are more than welcome to take Ed Orgeron back.
