Qb-solid edge Msu. Rb- solid edge Uga. Wr- slight edge Uga. Te- edge Uga although this is the biggest disappointment so far. Oline- edge Msu. Dline- Much debate over this Uga has 8 guys they rotate with very little drop off, depth gives Uga the edge. Lb- solid edge Uga. 3 of the 4 will go in the first 3 rounds in the draft next year. Db-edge Msu. Special teams- edge Uga most improved area of the team. Score. Uga 24-Msu 16

What about coaching?? I would probably give Mullen a slight edge but it is close.

Doesnt MSU have really good special teams? Was listening to the Chuck Oliver show today and he made it a point to mention MSUs solid special teams play. UGA is improved but hasnt Rodrigo already missed a couple FG? If Rodrigo has to kick from a hash mark he seems 50/50 at best.

Also, Im not sure Id give TE to UGA. UGA has a proto NFL guy in Nauta but he doesnt block well and his hands are an issue. Plus Chaney doesnt use them like he should. MSU has a guy...name escapes me...who is 6'7" 280 and runs like a WR. Chuck Oliver was gushing over this guy this morning. Heard one play last week he carried a few DBs for a 1st down. Id call TE even or slightly MSU.

Otherwise I agree with your assessment.

Break it down to the coaches and I think Mullen gets a big advantage over Kirby, but I think you might say that about most SEC coaches because they are all more experienced. Except for Odom....maybe Muschamp?

This one will come down to the trenches in the end. I think MSU is solid on both whereas UGA is very solid on D but there remain question marks at OL. MSU manhandled LSUs OL and shut their run game down. I expect theyll do the same this week. Theyll focus on stopping the run and make the young QB win it. With UGAs WRs still showing questionable hands (save for Godwins circus noncatch IMO) that may be just the ticket.

Chaney will screw this up. Mullen > Chaney offensively. MSU matches up just well enough defensively....ill say MSU 28 UGA 21

Very reasonable assessment Chop. I think Chaney gets too much of a bad rap.A good oline can make a play caller look like a genius or an idiot most of the time. Our oline has been easily the weakest part of the offense since Kirby and company arrived. Now,Chaney has made some questionable calls but also some really good ones. Execution makes or breaks an offense most of the time. You guys have a big edge at the most important position. I know they are not the exact same but playing against Wimbush gives us some experience against a true dual threat. No doubt that Fitzgerald is better but this will help us in this game. Notre Dame's oline was considered one of the best in the country with 2 potential first round picks and our dline dominated them. They key is can Georgia score 24 or more. Get to 24 and I like our chances. Never know what turnovers or the return game have in store. If those are a push,24 is the number for Uga

Thanks. And level headed analysis by you as well.

As a fan of a team with no dawg in the fight I think its going to be a great game that could be a turning point for the winner of either program.

RB isn't a "solid edge". State has good RB's too. But I'll allow it because I'm a Chubb fan.

State actually uses our TE's.

We also rotate 8+ at DL.

LB is a push.

would normally make sense except....

It's CHANEY. And his butt-buddy is the O-Line coach, too. They work together. Hell, at Arkansas Pittman was even called run game co-ordinator iirc. They are joined at the hip regardless. And while your premise is of course true, o-line will make a play caller look better, Chaney isnt good at it even then. And he damn sure cant develop a QB so you better hope Fromm is as good mechanically as he'll ever need to be.

As a State fan, I don't think most of us think our OL is that good... if you give us an edge, then holy crap, the uga OL must really stink.

To be fair, we do have a freshman playing, who is improving, and our best OL player switched to center and is getting used to that as well.

UGA o line sucked the last two years so everyone including UGA fans assume they still suck, but so far this unit has looked really good this year. Our first big test vs big boy SEC talent on DL will come next week vs Tennessee.

Your center is a legit badass. He is the best player on your team.

Your right tackle is serviceable on run plays but is dog shite on pass protection.

If what has been said on here is true about the olines and dlines, then points will be hard to come by. Could come down to field position and turnovers.

I stand corrected on Rodrigo.

He is 11 for 11 on XP's.

He is 3 for 4 on FG's.

He accounts for 20 of UGA's points this year.
