Poor live attendance and lopsided scores, they really need to eliminate bowls

Bowl invites for
Power 5 schools with at least 75% (8 wins in the regular season) for bowl eligibility.
Non Power 5 schools would need at least 9 regular season wins to become bowl eligible.

Would make them more meaningful, that's for sure.

I like the idea, but there is far too much money involved for them to eliminate bowl games.

It'll all make sense when you realize the bowl games aren't for the fans, or even the players. They're just another money maker for the PTB.

Stadiums could be *empty*
Scores could all be 50-0
All you'll see is more bowl games in the future, not less.
It's all about T.V. revenue now.

And most of the money is based on TV viewership. Even shitty bowls that barely fill 10–15,000 seats have proven to be moneymakers from TV advertising revenue. They're actually planning to add more bowls next year.

I don't understand the problem. I like watching football. It doesn't matter if the teams are world-beaters. More football is good.

Go frick yourself. There can never be enough college football games. I say lengthen the season and let it go until mid February.

There are more teams added to the FBS every year than there are bowls. They are needed.

Bowls are mostly tv shows.

Why does this piss people off ?
Economics takes care of bad bowls.

I don't get it either. Going with less bowls is a terrible idea.

I like more bowls. If UK makes a bowl game next year at 6-6 i'll be happy.

Yep. They don't give a sh*t about live attendance as long as those sweet Bristol bucks keep rolling in.

I don't understand people who say this dumb shite.
Something to watch while I drink beer? Yes, let's eliminate that. Idiots.

Well, it did seem like a much bigger deal when you went to a bowl years ago because there weren't near as many.

Seems to me to be a matter of don't like it then don't watch. Bowl games were designed from the start to be an end of year reward for teams and an economic booster for the host city. That's the reason they were never a factor in picking champs when they started and why bowl games can end up being mismatches -- there's nothing uniform about CFB as it's a diverse game (seasons often but not always tell us more about a team than any bowl or championship game which is a whole other animal than the grind of a season).
Also, those bowl practices mean the world to developing a team. It's a huge advantage for teams to have them and a disadvantage not to have them.
Besides even a cruddy bowl is better than no College Football.

This is things being burnished by hindsight.
No, the 1975 Liberty Bowl wasn't that much more meaningful than the 1995 or 2014 Liberty Bowl.

south alabamas shitter bowl was 20.5k attending out of 22k capacity and was far more exciting than the majority of p5 snooze-fests so far.
lets limit p5 bowls since half of them play like they dont want to be there anyway and leave the g5 be.
