i think there should at least be a playin game for the 4th spot for a team that did not play in conference title. they should be forced to play an additional game.
i think the playoffs system should be unbiased toward conference and a way of allowing teams from different conferences prove on the field what the best conference is. that is why a guaranteed spot for confrerence winners is a better approach.
right now everybody seems to think Big 10 was best conference this year and OSU and PSU are benefiting from that, but i'm not sure that is the reality. for example is Wisconsin really that good of a team? i think OSU is receiving too much credit for beating them.

College football will never be fair. It's impossible to put together a fair system with the current number of teams.
The NFL has a manageable number of teams, more games, and less of a gap between the top and bottom teams. College football has VASTLY different talent levels among teams which rarely play common opponents outside of conferences. It just can't be fair.
What we have now is good enough. None of the teams which might be left out truly can say they got screwed. None of them are undefeated and all of them have flaws.

The pool for the 8-team playoff should be limited to P5 schools. The conferences expand to 16 teams. Play two more conference games leaving two games for OOC P5 opponents. Eliminate conference championship, and let's get this thing rolling.
College football is so far behind.

Expand to 8. More conference games. Only play P5 teams. No conference championship.
Don't forget to implement a salary cap and a method to at least try to distribute talent equally.

i would prefer to reduce size of conferences so that every team in the conference plays each other. most years one of the teams in the conference title game isn't the 2nd best team.

Take 8 teams to the playoffs.
Take all P5 conf game winners
take 3 at large teams.
Play first round the week after conf championships and play at higher seeded team home.
Play last two rounds in bowl format they do now.

Oh yeah. This is gonna happen. The SEC has made more money than God off of this game since it was started, but that's OK. They'll gladly give it up, even though they're the only league that has gotten a team in the playoffs all three years.
Jeez.

Well the problem with keeping the conference championship game and expanding to 8 team playoff is you're getting close to making these guys play too many games, and the teams that play the game are at a disadvantage compared to the 3 at large teams who possibly didn't play in the game.

This is the biggest bullshite argument of them all. The FCS division has 125 teams and does a 24 team playoff. Would you like to compare how many games they play with how many games the high schools or the NFL play? Bowls have shite on lock down, but now that we have the playoff it is going to 24 teams, you can book it. You can always make an argument in college for inclusion, not so much for exclusion.

Only if #8 is a&m. LSU was shite this year and went toe to toe with alabama

Get rid of conference divisions and championship games (see OSU). Instead go to 8 teams in playoffs. Top 4 seeds get home games.
1) Alabama
2) Clemson
3) Washington
4) OSU
5) Oklahoma
6) PSU
7) Michigan
8) Western Kentucky

No, scrap the playoffs.
CFB is not setup for them

You cant have byes. You dont know how good these teams are at the end of the season till they play each other. What if there were 5-6 1 loss teams. It wouldnt be right to force some of those teams to play an extra game based off some fat cats "eye test"

Yes, 5, then 8, then 12, then 64…

Every other division has playoffs in college football. FCS, Division II, Division III. Only FBS lags behind.

Nah, teams should just win their games if they don't want to leave it in the hands and of others.
