I would pick Clemson and North Carolina.

My four divisions would be:

Tiger Division:

LSU
Missouri
Clemson
Auburn

Rovers and Rebels Division:

Georgia
Mississippi State
Mississippi
Tennessee

Basketball Division:

Kentucky
Florida
Arkansas
North Carolina

Leftover Division:

Texas A&M
Alabama
South Carolina
Vanderbilt

It's just a hypothetical, but I think there is pressure on conferences to add schools and increase conference TV network money. The Big Ten didn't add Maryland and Rutgers for their sports prowess; it added those schools for cable subscribers.

That North division would be pathetic.

As is the East now, according to the Rant, so it's all good. We could make it work.

I'm going with this.

I'd be okay with that as long as we still got to play Tennessee annually.

Forming pods sounds too much like Hentai porn.

But, if we had to expand, the pie in the sky plan would be UNC and Virginia. Virginia especially.

Here is why it won't happen. UNC is married to NC State and Duke. You either take all of the North Carolina schools except ECU, or you take none of them.

Virginia is happy being the sleeping giant in the ACC. They could be a sports super power across the board but the school and its boosters haven't pushed for it. Joining the SEC where they would have to compete hard or risk turning into Vandy 2.0 would disrupt their established slacker cred.

V. Tech would love to join, but their football success has been built on an increasingly elderly and out of touch head coach. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are a package deal and Oklahoma won't move if it risks blowing up their deal with Texas. Not to mention a good Oklahoma team should be hanging around making the playoffs most years in the Big 12.

FSU gets to be a really big frog in a fairly small ACC. Why move? The various minor Texas teams have never shown an ability to be consistently good at the highest level, we might add a Baylor only to watch them flame out and return to... well... Baylordom. Texas is a poison pill.

Maybe Clemson? But we already have the South Carolina market.

I think we add Tulane back before adding any other schools.

Nice idea but why shake up the traditional 14-team SEC.

Hypothetical.. so don't respond to this about how UNC will never leave the ACC. I'm aware..

North Carolina and Virginia would be my two teams..

East
1. North Carolina
2. South Carolina
3. Georgia
4. Virginia

North Central
1. Arkansas
2. Kentucky
3. Missouri
4. Tennessee

South Central
1. Vanderbilt
2. Alabama
3. Auburn
4. Florida

West
1. LSU
2. Ole Miss
3. Mississippi State
4. Texas A&M

There would be a playoff system for the SEC Championship game where the East pod champion would play the West pod champion.. and the North Central pod champion would play versus the South Central pod champion for a bid to the SEC Championship game..

If they add 2 teams they will b from States the SEC doesn't have teams in. It's the whole reason they picked Mizzou and A&M last time.
