Do you notice how the ranking goes lower the closer to the season we get?
First it was "#3! #4!", then it was "#6-7", now it's 10.
By August it'll be 16 and by the third week of September there'll be no number at all.

You'd think UT has never been good in their history judging by how this guy reacts to a #10 preseason ranking. Like whatever

Ya know what other number keeps getting higher as time goes on?
Number of times Astro Dobbs just scored on Georgia again

Note that this is not HIS top 11, only a prediction of the votes of others.
If it were his list, Texas would be 3 of the top 10 teams.

Just like Georgia last year!

Maybe he's right... On the the other hand I can think of a ton of schools entering the season highly ranked that completely and utterly cratered that year.
Hell, people had Arkansas picked as a dark horse candidate for the Natty the year we had John L. "Smile" Smith as head coach. Auburn was the chic pick to compete for the West and a possible berth in the CFP just last year. Preseason polls are just about as useless teats on a boar hog.

Yep. And we fired our coach.

You're incorrect per usual

True, but the two teams were in a completely different situation in terms of trajectory, stability, recent history etc. I see UGA fans on here sometimes say stuff along the lines of "UGA fired their coach for a season better than Butch's best one so far" but its such a different situation its hard to compare. Our coach is trending up, Richt was flat lining (not to say 10 or wins per season isn't good, it just wasn't enough after a while)
I'd rather start the season in the 20s/ high teens until we've proven we can beat the good teams we play. We haven't done anything to merit a top 10 ranking IMO.
