True or False?

I'm gonna go with false. I think he is a great WR and will have a good year but I think they take a step back at QB and it effects Cooper's production.

False. Mainly because he won't put up 280 receiving yards against us like he did last year.

I don't give props much, but that guy is incredible. Had 2 rec TDs, 1 rush TD and a long passing TD against us last year. Dude is damn good, but you are right, the QB situation may take away from his production.

Yeah he's a great receiver, but I just don't see him having a repeat of the stats he put up last year.

True or False?

I just do not see how he will ... everyone will be keying on him this year.

He'll still have a helluva year because he's just damn good, he's versatile and he's durable. But he's going to see a lot of double-teams and some heavy bumping in the trough.

Pharoh Cooper is awesome but it will be hard to top his stats last year for several reasons.

Not the least of which is ...... ?

Several would imply three (3).

He's the best receiver in the SEC, Treadwell can't carry his jock.

True, but not every stat line will increase.

His 2014 stats were:
69 receptions
1136 yards
16.5 Avg YPC
9 TD's

15 Punt Returns
75 Yards

27 Rushes
200 Yards
7.4 Yards per carry
2 TD's

5 Passes
8 Completions
62.5 Comp %
78 Yards
2 TD's
226.9 QBR

I don't think his 16.5 Avg will increase, I think he will have more receptions though, and he might be around the same range in receiving yardage. I do think he'll break 10 TD's.

As far as the other stats, we'll run the wildcat a good bit, most likely more times than last year, so I would think he can break 200 yards and maybe 3-5 rushing TD's.

I also think he'll break 100 yards passing.

1. Teams will game plan around him.

2. It's possible your QB situation may not be nearly as good/settled this year.
--Connor Mitch leads from what I've read but he didn't beat out Dylan Thompson last year and he was no freshman. He DOES look to be a good practice player but how that translates as a possible starter is speculation at this point.
--Others on the depth chart are walkon Perry Orth who according to reports is actually in the mix and RS Freshman Michael Scarnecchia. Also whoever you've got coming in this summer.
--It's possible a true freshman may start despite the lead Mitch and Orth have.
--Brendan Nosovitch converting back to QB from TE and being the 3rd team QB in 2013 isn't a good sign. And now there's rumors he'll transfer.

And let's just say Mitch is awesome. What happens if he gets hurt? Do you play the walkon? I just can't view that situation as ideal any more than I can view the situation we're in (no experience behind Dobbs) as ideal.

3. Y'all may not pass nearly as much as last season. Last year was the most I've ever seen Spurrier pass despite him being a pass happy coach.

4. You're partially rebuilding your offensive line -- not completely but still. Probably the worst part is the OT situation. Good thing Shell returned.

5. You don't currently have a deep threat WR to take pressure off Cooper. Speed is also a question mark for the rest of your WR corps.

ALL of these factors can effect Cooper's production. Of course, SC may find the answers to some of these things but it's far more complicated than just saying, "We put up mega yardage in the passing game last year so obviously we'll put up mega yardage this year." Again I like Pharoh but he has his work cut out for him, imo.

Solid analysis

I think he gets more receptions but I'm not sure if he'll break 1,100 yards.

Thanks guys. I think Cooper is a fantastic player (quite possibly the overall best WR in the conference right now) and I enjoy following SC football and SEC football in general although I do keep up with East teams more. It's possible he can replicate or exceed his stats from last year, I'd never count him out even though he set a huge bar for himself, but I think Carolina has some questions to answer. And much like our situation, there's little room for error in a lot of spots. That low margin makes me nervous because it becomes so easy for things that would be a blip on on the radar for a lot of teams to royally screw up teams that are in the position to where they have very little breathing room.

BTW, love talking real football talk rather than the standard tRant craziness.

He's the best WR in the SEC. Just an all around great football player and he plays smart.

Top last years stats? Probably not.
