Per Finebaum, Gruden will be Currie's first call and VOLS are willing to break the bank

This time. Or so someone very high up in the VOLS chain of command told him.

Oh. My. God.

They are going to get their hopes up. They will be so emotionally invested in this. It will all fail and it will be spectacular.

What, exactly, is Gruden's connection with UT? His name is always floated as a dream hire for them, and I have never been certain as to why. Did he coach there as an assistant at some point? Or is he from there?

His wife is a former cheerleader for VOLS, his son currently goes to VOLS and now it is time for King Jon to bring VOLS back to their rightful places amongst the elite.

I can't wait to tune in to MNF just to see what color tie he is wearing.

Gruden makes $6.5 mil a year NOW for approximately 20 weeks of work a year. No recruiting. No rubber chicken alumni dinners, speeches. He does nothing on Tuesday and Wednesday. He flies to the site of the game on Thursday, goes to practice. Watches film on Friday. Meets with the coaches on Saturday or Sunday. Calls the game on Monday. He has an incredible job now.

Isnt this about the third or fourth time he has been a "done deal" ???

I could go to his condo on the beach just a little ways from him and ask if you like.

But hell, I'm sure he is just itching to start recruiting high school seniors, dealing with alumni, media folks, admins and a lot of NCAA rules. Of course he cant wait til his first L and hillbillies start telling him to fire the OC, fire the DC and after two losses fire the HC

To hell with the comfy network job and the NFL, which by the way is his passion....sounds like a done deal.

Same. He's not coached at all in 10 years. Hasn't coached in college in 30.

I don't think he was ever just a GREAT coach any way. The Tampa D got him a Super Bowl tho. Go get him, Vols.

Gruden’s been eating hot dogs and living the easy life of a sports announcer for what...5 years now?

No way he gives up that gig to beg teenagers to play football for him at a school that will demand championships from him.

Lol if a failed NFL coach like Nicky can dominate, SUPER BOWL champ HC Jon Gruden would never lose a game
