Seems to me that every year the best of the other conferences is claimed to be better than the SEC... And by the end of the year they are shut up completely.

Better? No. As good as the SEC? I think it's quite possible. The SEC is better in some areas, but the PAC 12 could have much better QB play this year. The season will tell.

I think Oregon, UCLA, Stanford are all going to be elite top 10 teams, I think USC could legitimately go 10-2 or 11-1 with the only losses being UCLA and probably Stanford. UCLA could have one of the best defenses in the country along with Stanford. The Bruins are the real deal.

As of now
SEC - in front by default
PAC 12 - could be as good, season will tell

the rest

Half our teams are forced to take one more loss than the SEC because we play 9 conference games instead of 8. That hurts overall records.

I would give the SEC the slight edge going into this season based off past results. But I think the season will show both leagues are on even footing.

ASU and UW are in that next tier of 8-4 teams and they aren't shabby. Oregon State is decent.

Washington State is on the up and up after making a bowl game with Mike Leach last year.

Wish the PAC 12 and SEC at least had a lower tier bowl match up so we could see our middling team vs y'all's middling team to see how they match up. Would give an idea of depth.

Last year SEC was not the best, by the BCS bowl argument.

The league is very good but not SEC good. We have the sexy signal callers but we lost a lot on the defensive side of the ball. There aren't a lot of big names on the front seven like we had last year with Barr, Chricton, Murphy, Bradford, Sutton, Marsh, Skov and Breslin.

The SEC was the best conference in the country last year, BCS bowls aside.

I do believe it is close to even this year. The QB advantage is clearly in favor of the PAC12. RBs clearly favor the SEC. The rest is up for grabs. We will know in the coming months.

RB is really down in the PAC with Carey, Sankey, and Gaffney gone. That being said, I can't wait until Oregon's core is front and center in the MSU game.

This is going to be the year that Oregon can beat every single one of their opponents with the bubble zone read.

Until the PAC 12 can line up and beat you in the trenches then they will forever be a "soft" conference. Stanford for all their glory can barely beat teams that can match them physically. Against a physical SEC team with depth, they will struggle. Their best team in recent years got beat by an average ND team who was simply overpowered by Bama. And Stanford isn't pushing the Bama's and LSUs around in the trenches.

Oregon is pretty to watch but Auburn beat them where it matters... in the trenches. Same story.

UCLA has a nice team but is not proven. USC is starting to get some depth and could get back up there.

The rest of the league is flashy, but no muscle.

I still think they are the second best conference but outside of Stanford and Oregon, every other team has had losing records in the recent past iirc.

I think that the duck is pretty spot on. The PAC 12 is as close to the SEC as anyone else. Probably as much depth of quality teams as the SEC, probably better QBs as of now.

Let's get 2-3 weeks into the season and we should have a better idea if they can be a serious challenge to our run of superiority.

I'm interested to see how Peterson does at UW...the prior Boise HC flopped bigtime when he went to Colorado. Will this turn out different?

The Pac is a pretty solid conference top to bottom. I would say they are far more balanced than the SEC.

There are more Oregon fans on the SECr than Vandy fans.

The PAC will be improved on the Oline. The dines have promise. Ucla and Oregon have promising stars, USC should be stout, Stanford has good pieces, and Arizona will improve.
