The target of this exercise is all over the map. What is the true point?
So are we talking history? If so that's fairly easy to get a decent list together.
1) AL
2) TN
3) LSU
4) UGA, AU, UF
7) A&M, ARK
9) OM
10) MIZ
11) SC, MSU
13) UK
14) VANDY
Oh. So just over the past decade? If that's the case then Tennessee sure as heck isn't Top 6... let alone Top 10.
Auburn would certainly be ahead of Texas A&M and probably Georgia as well considering their two National Title appearances. South Carolina would not only be ahead of Arkansas, but also Tennessee and Texas A&M. The list would then look more like this:
1) AL
2) UF, LSU
4) AU
5) UGA
6) SC
7) MIZ
8) A&M
9) ARK
10) OM
11) MSU
12) TN
13) VANDY
14) UK
Okay, well this totally changes things. You could make a pretty strong argument that Florida and maybe even Texas A&M should both be ahead of Alabama... simply from a population and alumni standpoint.
1) UF
2) AL
3) A&M
4) UGA
5) LSU
6) AU
7) TN
8) SC
9) MIZ
10) UK
11) ARK
12) OM
13) MSU
14) VANDY
Well that's tough. It's unlikely any major conference would split up the sports and only take football, etc. Kentucky has a lot of value due to its basketball program. In fact, their football program on its own would be no different that Louisville, but the value of their basketball program adds value to the football program as well.
Too many conflicting angles with this list. Pick one direction and go from there.

Good analysis. I was speaking of the pecking order if you were starting a new conference and were able to draft each school. So potential is probably more important than history, but sometimes the two go hand in hand. Also, when you have a storied history it normally strengthens the program going forward.
And being financially sound is also pretty important. It is a hypothetical without including all sports and academics, so humor me.

Really can only go four years on miz and atm. mizzou had one good year, one solid year, and two crap years so that puts us in the middle, above OM, Arky, SC, TN, and aTm. Although we had the same pattern in the B12 with tow top 10 years and two crap years. The middle is bunched pretty tight though

Each program has it's strengths and weaknesses. There is a lot of good arguments to move the majority of the teams up or down.

Exactly. Even you see Tennessee is a great brand that is known coast to coast.

This is my list from 2000 onward (I don't care what happened previously).
1) Bammer*
2) LSU
3) UF
4) AU
5) THUGA
6) UT**
7) USCe
8) Arky
9) MSU
10) Ole Siss
11) Mizzou***
12) A&M****
13) UK
14) Vandy
* Pay to play is rampant, so take their #1 with a large pinch of salt.
** They could probably be lower since they haven't done jack since 2000. But they are still UT and you can't spell Citrus without them.
*** Mizzou went to the SEC championship game pretty early after they entered the conference. In reality they probably deserve to be above MSU, Ole Miss and Arky. However, since they are newcomers, I will put them at 11th.
**** aTm as a program deserves to be higher, but like Mizzou, they are too new to the conference and haven't done anything other than recruit Manziel.

Last 10 years:
10 points for National Champ
7 points for SEC Champ
5 points for SEC Runner Up
3 points for bowl game
Reverse points for division order (1st = 7, 2nd = 6 etc.)
1. Alabama - 156
2. Florida - 123.5
3. LSU - 102
4. Georgia - 91
5. Auburn - 83
6. South Carolina 69.5
7. Tennessee - 57.5
8. Arkansas - 56
9. MSU and Ole Miss - 48.5
11. Kentucky - 36.5
12. Vanderbilt - 34.5
No real fair way to figure in Missouri and A&M other than averages which would put Missouri at 4 and A&M at 8. Other than Missouri being an outlier from winning the East 2 of their 4 years it doesn't look that far off.

Possibly. The 5 points should have actually been for SEC runner-up instead of division champ because I didn't double up on the SEC champs.
Edit: My original ranking stands.
