They make a very mediocre hire and suddenly reel in five star players. Keep in mind their facilities are among the worst in the SEC and even 90% of LSU fans don't even give a shite about hoops. Gymnastics is more popular than it at LSU. I seem to remember Wade suddenly getting risky recruits at VCU, that had the whole conference scratching their head.
