I didn't know anyone actually believes this. I have been lurking on an Oregon message board to find out what I can about their team. They actually believe that the PAC-10 is as good or better than the SEC.

I just don't understand how a rational person could come to this conclusion, even if they are a huge homer.

Are they in denial? stupid? ignorant? Some combination?

Am I too arrogant about the SEC? Is there a legitimate argument to be made for another conference being better than the SEC this year? Obviously not the PAC-10, but maybe the Big 10?

In football, SEC is King. There is absolutely zero evidence to support otherwise. BCS dominance, nonconference records, and everything else combine to leave no doubt of that fact.

Auburn would have finished 4 at best in the Pac 10 this year.

5th if Utah was already in the league

Since their boards suck and their aren't many people posting how can you take the opinion of a few and come here and say THEY believe it? Not many realistic fans actually believe that. What they do believe is that they can compete.

yeah i was reading an oregon poster who came over to the auburn board saying that pac 10 was much better because they have to play all teams in their conference. saying SOS doesnt matter, that oregon would put up the same numbers they do in the pac 10

It's really nice that a Big 12 fan recognizes our greatness.

Over the last 5 years, here are the leaders in non-conference records:

SEC 226-50
Big 12 198-74
Big East 162-61
Pac-10 113-65
ACC 113-86

No contest.

somewhat misleading......Pac Ten has two less teams and they all play one less OOC game because they play a round robin. Over five years that is 50 less games they haven't played to compare.

I mean, take most contemporary SOS measurements, Auburn is top 5, Oregon is somewhere in the 70s.

Look at the number of bowl teams each has faced, look at the number of teams each team has faced that is ranked, etc.
