Luke Heimlich is one of the top pitchers in college baseball. And he’s in a world of controversy a little more than 24 hours from the beginning of the Super Regional matchup between Oregon State and Vanderbilt, with the winner set to earn a spot in the 2017 College World Series.

...

As a teenager, Heimlich pleaded guilty to a single charge of sexually molesting a 6-year-old female family member. Heimlich registered as a sex offender in Benton County after arriving at Oregon State.

1. He shouldn't be allowed to play baseball after molesting a 6-year-old.

2. Since he is, Vandy better give em hell all weekend long.

I don't know how the coach doesn't remove him immediately from the team.

Six years old? And he did it at least twice?

I don't fault the school for accepting him and letting him be on the team, etc. But once they found out, action should have been taken immediately.

Yeah. I'm far from a perfect person and try not to judge people too often but F this dude. It first happened when she was 4?

I'm sorry but people like that have a serious disorder.

Somehow that title is actually generous to him. I mean a frat boy who gets sloshed and pisses in a fountain is a "sex offender" the lefty is an incestuous child molester.

The girl told investigators that inside Heimlich's bedroom, he pulled down her underwear and "touched her on both the inside and outside of the spot she uses to go to the bathroom," according to court records.

"She said that she told him to stop, but he wouldn't," the documents state, and that "it hurt" when he touched her.

They most likely knew about it.

The kid is disgusting and probably shouldn't be playing, but he did serve his punishment that was given to him. Some schools believe in second chances, no matter how undeserving.

You're right. No reason to not call it what it is.

Old News. Juvenile issue. Dealt with appropriately at the time. Sounded like a family thing. I bet they dealt with it as well!)
Dude may or may not be a scumbag, but his actions since then indicate it was likely an unfortunate childish mistake. Very sad and cringe worthy...and beat down worthy....but....

Have some class, leave it in the past.

I have a 2 year old daughter...I just can't imagine - but I don't see the need to pile on this guy now. I dang sure wouldn't go out of my way to help this dude, but no need to crucify him either.

The "Vandy Whistler" may come up with a special tune...otherwise I trust Vandy will ignore this old news.

Diggin' up dirt only creates a hole and a hill - that you are going to step in or trip over yourself!

If that little girl was my child, they wouldn't have to worry about making a decision whether he should be disciplined or not

They definitely already knew this happened when they accepted him. 15-16 is prime years for recruiting so I don't see how OSU wouldn't know this unless he a juco transfer or something.

It's not like he was 9 or 10 when it happened. He was 15! This absolutely is still an issue.
