Sorry if Y'all already knew.

Athletes can now play for any school in Florida regardless of location and don't have to sit out a year. They can also play at a different school for each sport.

Well stating an extremely smart student might be going to a really crappy school. I think it makes perfect since. I just moved and I passed up nice houses I would have loved to live in just because I wouldn't put my kids in that school for a million dollars. But atheletes will use it to get on better reconized teams that's for sure.

But it states you can't play the same sport at two different teams in a school year. So the player can't loose his first 3 games and get tired and play somewhere else. But I like the law I think most states should have it academically wise.

The article says if a school has room. I can see a coach telling a science fair winner he needs to transfer to make room for a quarterback, telling a tuba player and the drum major to hit the road.

I bet the wheels are turning.

It makes sense academically, but imagine how it would completely ruin some schools athletically.

It was done for academic reasons.

I don't like it because of some of the potential pitfalls but it's not as bad as it seems.

First, the school must have room. Most schools here are at capacity. Second, parents will have to drive their kids to school and pick them up. That will not be possible for the vast majority of parents and therefore will not be applicable to most of the kids and schools.

The biggest issue is building new schools. How on earth are you to project building needs now?

What if a player stays with the coach or a friend at school just for the football season then comes back home for the rest of the year?

I'm pretty sure as that school year comes closer they will have more rules and exceptions that you have to abide by. That is in 2 school years.

This exactly. Schools less than 5 years old are over capacity in my county. Plus we all watched them let a certain homeschooled kid go a couple counties away to play football, with 0 educational benefit.

Why are you so concerned about a small fraction of the possible issues with this?

Coaches and schools skirt the rules all the time. They'll be punished if they violate the rules as they are written now just like always (if they are caught of course).

I don't care about it from an athletics perspective.

Hell, I don't believe there will be a big school shift now in most counties. Most parents can't drive their kids to school.

I may be wrong, but I don't think they can kick those kids out if they actually live in that schools district.

You know this is allowed, right? Do you know that Duval is not a couple of counties away from St Johns?
